I assume that's the notorious Olds based diesel. (It's been a few years.) If so, many an Olds 350 gave themselves to a transplant!

Or even better, if you don't care about power and want fuel economy, a 307 Olds. What a great engine those are!

Back in the 80s a friend drove the twin to that car on taxi. He liked the mileage in the city. $5 bucks for the night shift, but hated the smell of diesel on his hands after fueling it. It died at about 230,000km and got a 350 Olds gas engine. I worked on those diesels back then. Did lots of rear main seals and broken head bolts. Also the cars either had 2.29 or 2.14 axle ratios! No wonder they were so gutless.

Yes, we did drive the cow paths in "field cars" when we were young. This would be a little big for a "field car".

 I grew up in the city, so we drove our "field cars" on the road.  Good times!
