A Classic Aztec

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/bedford/classic-car/1505689110

T
hese were the forerunner to all the crossovers and they definitely got a bad rap, the design is ahead of its time and has now been copied by every car manufacturer in the world. Seller says it will take a 4x8 with seats folded.

Some people think they are ugly, Im one of them. But I think all these crossovers are ugly. Good for hauling things and people though.

Valid concept, but agree they are still ugly.  Even in the context of today's crossovers.

Look up a Toyota Venza MC, both parts of the Lee family covered with it, home and ug.

The Aztek was built on the Montana minivan chassis. Decent vehicles but the styling is a bit... I remember being at a large GM rally the year before these came out and they showed us a teaser photo of it and the shop foreman who worked for our dealership said to me "Thank Got I'm retiring this year!" lol

If that were alot closer to me I'd make him an offer. But, I wonder if that's 167,000 km or miles.

At least there is a family resemblance . Is this not the same basic vehicle as the Rendezvous by Buick? Never heard anything bad about the Buick.

Ugly then....... ugly now. I remember reading somewhere that the woman that designed it was fired by GM at some point. The amazing TV series "Breaking Bad" had the main character Walter White drive one and this caused a sort of cult following for the hideous vehicle. The Buick version was far easier on the eyes and did well.

I was never a fan of the Pontiac twin nostril quasi-BMW styling theme that they went to in the 1980s.

But, I am a huge fan of the split-grille theme that they went to in 1959 and continued right up until the mid 1980s.  I equate the nostril thing to Pontiac losing its way, that finally led up to its demise as a division.

The one in Saskatoon looked like a good deal, but the ad is now gone.
