2019 Ford Edge ST

The current-generation Nautilus is due to end production at the Oakville plant in 2023,

and Ford will move production to China, one of its largest markets for the luxury brand,

for the next generation.

According to a report by AutoForecast Solutions, a U.S.-based global forecasting and consulting firm,

the cancellation of the Edge program could be the final nail in the coffin for the Oakville plant.

"Unless Ford decides on a different program to replace the Edge, there's no future for Oakville,"

said Sam Fiorani, vice-president of global forecasting, told News.

The Oakville plant, just west of Toronto, currently employs about 4,200 people,

and Ford's Unifor labour contract covering the Oakville plant expires in September.

I find this article a has a little bit of sensationalism in it.

"Ford sold 19,856 examples of the Edge in 2019; and 19,156 in 2018, but those were mostly fleet sales."

This number must be Canadian sales

This is the US sales for Ford showing 138,000 units sold in the US for 2019

As we know they are the dog and we are the tail.

Plus there are more cars built and shipped overseas than are sold in Canada.

The right hand drive program it's self almost out sells Canadian sales.

As for the platform it's self, it may end but the silly numbers for sales leads to disbelief of any of the author's information.

Flashbacks of GM Oshawa!!!!! said it would never happen, but guess what???? If this happens that leaves Brampton Chrysler plant which I heard was also on "shaky ground" then NOTHING LEFT of the Big Three !!!!!!!
