Can't say I've seen too many mid-late seventies Camaros with sixes. I recall seeing a '76-'77 many years ago with six, dogdish hubcaps, no options years ago, but not many more since.
The emblems, dash and colour tell me it is a 1979, not a '78. Also the console was made standard with the automatic starting '79.
My brother's friend ordered a new '79 in that same colour with spoilers, 305 2-barrel, 4-speed & dog dish caps. He reasoned that he could pick up used Rally Wheels for cheap, which is what he did.

I had a 74 with a six and a three speed on the floor. A former girlfriend had a 71 with a column shift automatic and a customer bought a 78 Rally Sport brand new with a six auto. I remember my surprise when I opened the matte black hood and found a six in there!
So Cam must have initiated the change ! isn't it odd how many times we see someone post their car for sale with the wrong year and even model name?
It said 78 before but when I looked more closely I saw the Camaro is a 79.
That isn't so bad, within the last week or 2 I saw an ad for a car that was placed by somebody that had no clue whatsoever. They didn't really know what kind of car it was and were off by about 10 years on the age. Why bother?
Power steering was made standard on V8 Camaros for '74 but remained optional on the sixes. When totals were tallied, every '74 Camaro came with power steering. So for 1975 power steering was made standard on all, yet somehow 4 Camaros rolled off the line with manual steering in 1975.
