That is wild, very period custom, makes it hard to sell I'm afraid.

I have seen this car many times at various automotive events and she really is a well executed beauty. Ray, what makes you think it is a hard sell. Fifties customs are still well loved and respected in the old car community. It may have to go state side though.

Thats a nice car, and not a bad price. Would be more $$ on the wet coast.

George when a car is customized to this point and has such a special paint job my experience is that potential buyers always start thinking about how and what cost body repairs and paint is going to cost and be executed. There are buyers out there for it but I don't think its a long line. We had our way with a personalized 61 Biscayne already this week and its nothing compared to this. https://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t66802202/61-biscayne-on-kijiji-pei/

I have to agree with Ray on this one.  The car is already $30K and the first thing I think when I see it is how much money I'd have to spend to turn it back to a configuration that I'd like, which in my case would be closer to stock.

I've always noted that this style of customization appealed to the generation before mine who grew up in the mid 1950s to mid 1960s, when this was popular.  When I was growing up, musclecars, race cars, performance cars and motorcycles were more popular.  As such even though I admire 1950s cars greatly, whenever I see spotlights, cruiser skirts, extended continental kits, etc., I've always thought that it's somebody else's nostalgia, but not mine.

There is probably the perfect buyer for this car out there somewhere, but like Ray said there is probably not a lineup of them ready to plunk down 30 G's on this one.

Just my personal opinion, of course, no offence intended to anyone.

I'm thinking about how sore my back would be after taking a large, heavy item out of the trunk!  wink

Oh ya that's a long reach, actually pretty much renders the trunk useless. The other thing with these customized sleds is all that weight that has been bolted on, the cars usually have a decent sound but as far as performance goes they are burdened down by spots skirts, antenna, kits and Lakers.

I'd love to have a model of this car on my shelf, its nice to look at but really its a 60 year old cliche that I missed by about 10 years.

Its quite a creation and Ray, I agree, this reminds me of some of the old car models. I think I had a 36 ford coupe done up like this. I enjoy looking at it but it better have a suspension that can go up when needed for going in and out a driveway. Thats quite an overhang.

I see scallops, Frenched Lake Pipes, bullet tail lights, Lancer wheel covers, skirts, one heck of a Continental kit (not usually a fan but it lengthens the looks of the car, and that car is about a certain "look", which I feel he captured).

Ray's assessment sounds right, though. The populous is always advancing in age & renewing. That car is best for someone who is into that sort of car and doesn't need to budget to redo everything.

I'll bet it ends up in Sweden.

Yes, too personalized. When you have/customize a car like this, you keep it for life or sell it cheap(er).

This is a car that our American cousins would have far more appreciation for. Here in Canada we have always had a reputation for being a very boring lot. This car would be a super star among American lovers of custom cars. I thought by now Canadians got over being boring, i guess i was wrong. biggrin

Right on George. In the late 50's when my older brother told me Pontiacs were really Chevs in disguise I thought

'crap - lunch bag let down'. I proceeded to fall in love with the big 'Wide Track' US Pontiacs. We went to Deseronto

(Mohawk Drag Strip) in fall 1959 and saw a 60 Catalina 2 door hardtop from NY State running Super Stock and turning low 14's.

Then when Jim Wangers won S/S at the US Nationals in Detroit, I was hooked.

With the internet and what not today its almost impossible to go unnoticed, we can't account for the minds and thoughts of others I afraid. I wonder what happened in three weeks to add $5,500 value to the car?
