I bought this car in 1998 and a body off restoration had been done by the previous owner. This vehicle has always been parked indoors and all components (paint, chrome, engine, etc.) are in great condition. Needs to be seen to be appreciated. Not numbers matching. Serious inquiries only. o 350 Engine o 3 Speed Automatic o 12 Bolt Rear End o Disc Brakes o Tilt Steering o 58,000 miles
Agree Todd, a very good looking car. I have no problem at all with cars like this being restored into a nicer model of the same car line especiallIy when they are represented properly. Its not like you can order a 1970 GTO and when the car was coming down the line it was only by chance that the order didn't say slap a GTO nameplate on it, otherwise its basically the same car, add in that many years a GTO was an option package on a LeMans, so really a GTO was first a LeMans anyway.
Kudo's to the seller for taking eye catching photos. I had a lowly Sebring Convertible and when I put it up for sale I took a photos from the second floor of our house looking down on the car. It was a cool shot. It sold within a day and the buyer said "Your photos are what sold me".
Our 1970 Oshawa built Tempest actually had a Pontiac 350 engine. This was first year of introduction to Canada and the cars stayed true to their Pontiac line. It was rated at 265 HP and we called it our baby GTO. My dad would burn rubber for what seemed like half a block when coaxed. It was a 2 door sedan, known nowadays as as post car, no carpet, no radio, no defrost, no power brakes, no disc brakes, just a 350 auto with 70 series twin whitewalls.
