69 Pontiac Full Size - looking for front license plate bracket

Hey gang, I'm looking for a presentable front license plate bracket for a 69 Full Size Pontiac.   As we have a number of guys on here with 1969's, I figure someone must have a spare bracket kicking around.

hmmm, I received the license plate bracket in the mail today, and realized it was the same as the one I have for a 68 front end, and there's no hole drilled in the valance for the center bolt.

I got digging through the parts books, and found exploded view drawings of both 68 & 69, and the 69 front license plate bracket bolts to the underside of the bumper.  But it does have a couple rubber pads that rest against the valance.

So, the hunt is still on.   Can any of you 69 guys help me out?

On a side note, the 69 front valance has the 2 square holes at the bottom and outside the license plate bracket.   They seem to be for the elusive V52 - Guard, Front License Plate as seen in my other post.

I'll bet this style didn't make it through the automatic car washes of the day, biggrin

Here's what I have:

Note the valance only has the 2 square holes, I presume for an optional license plate guard:

And setting the bracket on top, there's no where for the center bolt to go into.

Maybe this was a mid-year change?

You are right Randy! My dad was always bending it back out after he went through the car wash! He found a cheaper and safer car wash could be done by....me! They were mounted with 2 bolts under the front bumper and prone to bending.

I found this one in the garage Clint, is it any use to you?

,I am starting a search to replace the aftermarket one currently mounted on my 2+2. I know it is a long shot, but anybody have one buried in their garage or know where I might find one...besides the one on Randy's car?biggrin Looking for the manual one, not power. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Got the bracket in the mail today, thanks again Ray.   It appears I've got an early bumper (the holes are there but have never seen a screw in them) and a late valance (no center hole for the earlier bracket).

I'll have to figure out how to mount all this stuff on the garage wall.

My car was built on March 14th/1969

I have the valance mounted type.

It would be interesting to find out from other 1969 owners, their build dates and type of bracket they have.

Could they have started with the bumper style and changed back to the 1968 style ?

Or was this a late year switch to prepare for the 70 ?

I find mid year changes very interesting.

I know that, in the auto plant I worked in, a mid year change could actually mean switching back to last years designed part.

A "Better Idea" wasn't always better wink

Please post your wall art when it's done.

Thanks for the plug Randy! I will give an update on the original post as to what I have found.
