You’d need Grey Poupon with this Rolls Royce

Id like to know the story of where this car came from, a barn car in Kentville, NS. Looks awful solid and well above my pay grade.

After looking them up quickly on line, for sale prices range from US$32500-95,000, thought it would be more.

Interesting how backwards looking British cars always were. It is a 1937, yet it looks like a 1925 American model in styling. The British cars always looked at least ten years behind the American cars.

I agree, George, and that held true right up through the 1960s.

Don, a friend's father had a friend that used to buy old RRs and drive them around NS.  He was quite an eclectic fellow and I recall that he had a few stashed away somewhere.  He did pass away years ago, but I can't help but wonder if it is one of his.

Personally I love it, and I've been toying with the idea of getting a 20s or 30s Packard, Auburn, Bentley or Rolls. Something Great Gatsby-ish. Friend has a 25 Pierce Arrow, what a car.

I agree with you Ray.  Even for those who don't like the car, you have to appreciate that these were hand built by craftsmen using the finest materials and techniques available at the time.  Despite the fact that European styling tended to lag the Americans for a period of time, their engineering was top-notch.  Rolls Royce earned their reputation of building the finest cars in the world honestly, by building actual quality into their cars.

Sorry, George, but calling it "grey poo poo' indicates that you may not understand how well built these cars were?  Or is it just the fact that it wasn't built by GM?  I find it disappointing when an old car guy puts down another old car that isn't their brand, for whatever reason.  My hope is that people in the hobby can appreciate all old cars for what they are.

Regardless, this is a very rare find, and I agree with the others that it is surprising to see one of these in NS.  It would be neat to find out the history - it may have been owned by the friend of my buddy's dad, but the friend passed away a long time ago so I probably will not find out and my buddy's dad is well up into his 80s so may not remember now.

Ray, I've often wanted to own a late 1930s Packard.  Despite the difficulties of getting through the depression, I felt they were still at the top of their game during that period.  Truly elegant cars.

The friend with the 25 Pierce Arrow, is that the fella you sent me to, to get the top-end of my Northstar engine rebuilt ?

If so, I agree, what a car.

Regards, Scott
