Automotive Parts Icon JC Whitney Nameplate Fades Into The Night

Wow. I can remember getting their catalog in 50's and dreamin' about a hot rod.
Bought a lot of stuff from them over the years. When I rebuilt my 61 348 they were the only
place that still offered the 3 deuces chrome air cleaners. I still have some filters for them from JC.

The Warshawsky catalog changed into the JC Whitney catalogs that fueled our automotive dreams all through the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Warshawsky & Company continued to grow, and in 1934, Israels son Roy came on board.

Whenever I'd travel I'd always pick up a catalogue, just to see what was in it. I did not order much but was impressed by what I could get if I wanted it.

It's not surprising that the mail order catalogue business has gone by the wayside, or that the business had been folded into an internet platform. That's almost inevitable in today's business climate.

But I am surprised that the JC Whitney branding, so very well established over many years, was not preserved for a part of the online business.

Maybe the competition is just too stiff online for it to persist. In any case, it was iconic, and I'm sorry it's gone.

Sad to hear. They actually had a decent website. I bought aircraft style seatbelts from them about 10 years ago.
