I apologize in advance for not being a Pontiac owner but hopefully being in the GM family will buy some forgiveness. I have a 1972 Chev C10 that I've been working on for about 10 years. Its finally up and running and just looking at finishing touches.
The truck originally came out of Maple Creek Motors in Sask and what I'd love to find would be an original dealer emblem for the tailgate or at least a picture of the decal (if the dealer had moved to those from the chrome) that I could have reproduced. Anyway, all the research I've done hasn't turned up anything online but searching dealer codes/emblems leads me to your forum. If anyone has any info regarding this dealer (long since closed), an emblem, pictures etc I'd be most grateful.
Try Maple Creek's Historical Center. Their main museum is in the same building as Maple Creek Motors was, right up to the dealership's closure in 2009.
I grew up in Maple Creek and actually worked at that dealership when I was 16 years old as a car washer. Unfortunately I cant recall the emblems used but my older brother confirmed that the hat picture was the logo used,it was usually placed on the cowl panel. I called the parts man today that used to work at the dealership and he's looking into this and will get back to me later. Hope he can find an emblem/decal for you
Cant remember the logo (sigh)but can recall getting a proper ass-chewing for taking a spanking new white with blue striped 1980 z-28-4 gear half ways around the block instead of crossing 100 feet on the dealership lot.
By any chance is your lovely truck a YG8 Highlander? If not, at least the plaid seat?

You bet, it's a Highlander package. Nicely optioned for it's day but still probably a farm truck?? No A/C etc. I did get the original documentation from GM Vintage Vehicles so that's how I tracked down the original dealer.
