I remember reading an article about GM hydramatic transmissions. Rolls Royce was buying transmissions from GM in the fifties. The failure rate was so high that GM sent a specialist to England to see why the transmissions were failing at such a high numbers. Well, Rolls Royce was disassembling the transmissions and blueprinting them and assembling them at minimum tolerances. The problem was that when the transmissions warmed up the tolerances tightened up and the transmissions failed. The Rolls Royce technician said it was the policy of Rolls to always assemble to minimum tolerances. It didnt work with theGM hydramatic.

400k ? Those customers don't care about value or reliability. They get (taken) care of.

Pretty cool, but I wish they would have talked about the power train in that video.

I have a neighbor who rebuilt the engine in a 70s RR V8, they had some similarities to the aircraft stuff. The engine sat on a rack, big big hunk or iron, and the whole thing dropped down. He balanced it as well.

Fascinating video.  I had no idea as to the extent of hand work in those cars.  Also interesting that they have special tires with foam inside to reduce road noise, and that it was so effective they had to remove some sound insulation from the body as it was too quiet.

Definitely exclusive vehicles for too-rich people, but the cost (and profit) would be an indication as to why the company can survive buy only building 5000 (or less) units per year - which also suits the money crowd who doesn't want to drive the same cars that 'common people' would drive.  In other words, if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it...

Very interesting cars, though.  I have to say that even if I had that much money I don't think I'd want to own one, but it would be an experience to drive one for a day.

They may be expensive but they are also ugly, big behemoths.
The Sweptail looks like a modern AMC Marlin.

I sure don't consider them Ugly, in fact that swept tail is downright Stunning.

I too found this video fascinating and the bespoke concept, I had no real idea about. Imagine getting paint the colour of your beloved pet Setter.

I just spent the equivalent to an enviable yearly salary on my Genesis, I am sure the more you have the more you would buy, at least I would.

Go back in time the rich have always had the most ostentatious cars.

Check out Clark Gable's ride in the 1932.......can you say HUGE. Its a Packard.
