"The hazards: the NHTSA says this problem can lead to a sudden engine stall without warning, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Its not clear if any accidents or injuries can be traced back to this problem.

 

The fix: GM dealers will replace the entire fuel pump module in affected vehicles.

These repairs will be done at no cost to the owner of the vehicle.

 

Affected components: fuel pump nozzle, fuel pump module."

This seems to be a supplier issue due to other manufacturers having the same problems.
Toyota has recalls on most 19 and 20 models for fuel pump failure and some model back to 14 I believe.
On Toyota models we are replace just the pump inside the module.
