Howie Meeker...another Canadian Icon has passed

Remember watching him on CBC all of the time in the 80's. Another house hold name has passed. RIP Howie...

Howie was remarkable and such a great hockey mind and able to explain and instruct so well with his animated and lovebale style using replay and his white screen marker.

I remeber asking my Dad once who the heck this guy was, how would I know, and my father went on to explain Rookie of the Year three time Stanley Cup Champ wit the Leafs, coached the Leafs,,,Wow how could I not be impressed.

What an indearing man. God rest his soul.

When I ran a satellite truck I met my share of celebrities, including Howie Meeker a couple times. The first time was in Vernon BC when we were doing the Centennial Cup, and 6 or 8 of us went for dinner. He picked up the cheque for the table, and I also remember looking at his huge hands. Al Ok guy in my books.
