Quebec to ban sale of new gas-powered vehicles as of 2035

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/gas-vehicles-ban-electric-quebec-1.5802374

"Size won't matter, as the ban will target small cars, SUVs, vans and pick-up trucks that are for personal use.

And according to La Presse, which first reported details of the plan, vehicles used for commercial and industrial purposes will be exempt.

The sale of second-hand gas-powered vehicles will still be allowed beyond 2035."

So buy a new 2034 vehicle and take care of it.

Will there be enough gas to go round or will there be an abundance ?

When I heard this on the news today I thought what will happen to all our classic cars!  For sure there will still be gas around for a while, and if cars tend to last about 15 years there's gotta be a way to keep feeding the 2034 models until around 2050.

What I wonder is what will become of the value of classic cars? Input / speculation welcome!

My opinion is they will decline. Younger folks dont want then. Less demand as the years go on.

Quebec can likely support this, as their electrical infrastructure is quite robust, can grow and has the reserve.

I can't see Ontario doing it. Our system can hardly support the summer demand as it sits.

These politicians who are pushing the progressive narrative have blinders on. First will Manufacturers actually have vehicles ready in the numbers envisioned and secondly most scientific estimates describe lithium as a finite resource, there is enough on earth for all of us to get one electric car once in our life time.  There is a legitimate theory that oil is actually a renewable resource given enough time so maybe when the lithium is gone oil will be back in vougue.

As for our old cars, we already see the direct Chevy small block bolt in electric motor being offered and we all know torque is King.
