Poor fellah - not only did he have to deal with the pain of trading in a C8 for a crappy SUV, but had to deal with internet shaming for it.  Meanwhile he was probably just doing the 'right thing' for his family (I'm guessing).

Sigh...

On the plus side, seeing the pic of the Vette makes me think I might have to get one some day - IMHO it looks good in the blue, though I'd probably end up defaulting to black as usual...  Note to self: take one for a test drive when covid is done.

It reminds me of those stories from the 60's where a guy had to trade his (insert any musclecar here) for a station wagon.

As much as I love my Corvette and that new one in the colour he had, WOW WOW!! BUT they are not a practical car if it is the only car you have.

A saleman friend of mind told me that selling a Corvette is easy as pie because all you do is play on the emotions and status seeking person's ego and its sold. He told me of people actually remortgaging their house to buy the car when GMAC denied credit.

It has to be a gut wrenching feeling to trade in your dream car, but likely he never should have purchased it in the first place.

My wife needed a Van to get in and out of easier (severe pain from scar tissue pressing from 2010 surgery)

I traded my toy for her Van.

That also was a good choice.  Takes a good man to make the right choice at the time.

I see you still like orange..biggrin  Your a good man Carl!! A toy is something you enjoy, weather $10 or $100,000.  Some of my $10 toys bring me more pleasure than the $1000 dollar toys.  I can give you a good deal on prep and paint if you want to change the colour to orange on the van......wink

 Agreed!

The fact that Im not a Corvette fan aside, we have all made spontaneous purchases that we come to regret. Kudos to those who make the practical choice to step back and take their lumps.

I can relate to your situation Carl. The time will come when my wife will not be able to fold herself in and out of the drivers seat of her toy, a 09 Solstice Coupe. I expect when she reaches that point ownership will transfer to our daughter, if she wants it!
