Nominate a Canadian Poncho to be the Feature Car of the month,

To all CP members,

We all know that Todd has taken a ton of pride in being able to find a CP to feature at the beginning of each month. Remarkably, he's been able to pull through and find a car worthy continuously for near 12 years. And it can be a tough job, seemingly running right up to the deadline more times than we can count. And let's not forget those amazing Calendars that are based on the feature cars. Thanks go out to you Todd for all of this!

In order to make it a little easier to find material, and to make it easier to prepare for upcoming months, I've suggested we create a post where we link to the cars already featured, and to allow members to post suggestions (nominations) of cars they feel should be recognized. We all see great images of cars here that we absolutely know could be featured, but they get forgotten in the posts. Having a central place to post when you see or think of one makes better sense.

New Nominations will be open to;

  • All Pre 1971 Canadian Built Pontiacs, including for export (CKD, complete knock down) as seen in Australia, Beaumont and Acadian (including USA Built 68-71).
  • Cars previously featured that have undergone significant upgrades since.
  • Cars previously owned that you might have good photos and a story for.
  • Project cars currently in process.
  • Rare or special examples in any condition, with a known story and images.
  • Cars not listed; Exceptions will be made on a individual basis.
  • They can be your own cars or ones belonging to another member.

A big story isn't most important, just a good description, and some decent images of any interesting Canadian Pontiac to spark our interest.

You can post to this thread with your feature suggestions, or PM cdnpont , 4SPEED427  if you wish to remain anonymous. Todd (Canadian Poncho) will then pick subjects from the new list for consideration.

We'll edit the suggestions into the list below, then delete your post to keep the thread clean.

Thanks, Mark

Just a thought. What about past feature cars that have gone through a refit? So the members car was a fixer upper when featured....and now is a new car. New paint ,interior etc. If it has been featured but updated..to me it's a new car. Show us your progress from the last time... Still doesn't need to be finished, but lets see what you've done! yes/no?

To me it's the story behind the car. How you found it, what you've done to it and what your plans are for it. We can't experience driving the car, only you can. So roadworthy doesn't really  mean anything to me. Every car and it's owner has a story.....and luv to hear them....

Absolutely 110% in favour of that idea. I love seeing the "upgrade" threads when guys are doing their cars.

C'mon guys, there's LOTS of you out there who have done what Jim is talking about.

I'm surprised there aren't more nominations showing up. It's pretty much wide open now.

And there are a lot of cars significantly upgraded since being featured. My 67 Grande is a good example of that.

To be brutally honest the sad reality is there is hardly anyone on here anymore.  Most have migrated to facebook.  Its really to bad.

The Facebook sites certainly have nothing compared to this site. I read there too but nobody does project threads there it seems. It's mostly information swaps, classifieds and a fair bit of bickering!

And I should add to that, when guys have a need for good detailed technical answers it seems they find there way to this site. I've seen a number of times on a couple of different Facebook sites where someone referred an individual to Canadian Poncho to get a question answered!

I look at the members list, last access, and it looks like there is quite a few guys checking in, but they don't post often.

Anyways, how about 64Parconuk's 64 rag in England,

Well, in that case, Jerel is probably a better source of the back story!  He hooked me up with the fellow I bought it from; they winter(ed) together in the Coachella Valley, and the seller mentioned to him that he was looking to get rid of it so he could pursue his and his wife's passion for boating with a clear conscience.  Jerel hooked me up with him, it's such a nice car I was even able to resist my natural impulse to dicker, and then set about getting her from Port Alberni to Greensboro, at the (previous) height of the pandemic.

But, sure, I've got some "as acquired" images that are decent, and it's a pretty nice example of its kind.  Still haven't heard anything from the dudes in Oshawa with the archival information, but it was a Lemonwood Yellow small block, manual, bench seat car, when built, according to what I've been told, and the data plate on the firewall doesn't contradict any of that.

I would have loved to feature a 2+2 project by now but all I have right now is bumpers from Howmac.

Thanks Howmac smile

I guess I have to be patient.

I have only been trying to buy this car since 1984 !

Guys, I'll let the replies to this post come in for a bit. Suggestions are good for sure. But I will be deleting it all in time to keep it tidy.

I'd be happy for my 69 Parisienne 427 to be featured but unfortunately I don't have a lot of good pictures on hand, and the car is in storage now so it would be hard to get some at this time.
