Huh. Does anyone remember '62 2d HTs with anything other than the faux-convertible-look roof stamping? Chebbie carried over the '61 "bubbletop" on the Bel Air of the era, and they're worth big bucks in salvageable condition, but I honestly can't remember seeing a Canadian B-Body of that year, with the same roofline. The pictures don't lie, of course...but the brochure shows even the Laurentian with the creased, small back window, roofline:

All 62 Pontiacs had the faux convertible roof. Only 62 Belair had the bubble top. Some body spent alot of time and effort to change the roof over. Good deal on both cars but the boss says nothing else can follow me home.

Yes you could even get a Laurentian 2 door ht in 62 with the faux convertible roofline. Too bad the 62 Pontiac wasn't offered with the bubbletop roofline; I'm sure it would have been popular.

The 61 Parisienne and Catalina 2 door bubbletop are my favorite all time Pontiacs. Had a chance at a laurel green Parisienne in 2008; it was expensive but in hindsight I wish I'd bought it.

Impala bubbletop made with a 61 Ventura. First time this guy did the 1/4 in this car, he went down the track with his window down and elbow out the window. Beautiful car, the top amd paint suit it.

What year is this one? I hauled it Thursday down past Penticton. He spent $8500 for it with no power train and then paid a g note for 2 minty fenders. I thought that was in line. It came out of Edmonton. Its getting some pretty big horsepower by the sounds of it.

Interesting too I loaded the Chevy into a barn so if he doesn't get at it, it still can increase in value. I saw a guy a few days ago with barn dust for sale.

Thats a 61, those front fenders all rotted there until the better inner fenders came out in 62. 61s are hard to get fenders and other parts for. $8500 sounds high but what do I know?

This car looks like a decent project. Seems like some of the hard work has been done.

There are at least two 62 Catalina bubbletop conversions that have been for sale in the US in the past, one white and one black, and both built by the same guy. Beautiful cars IMO.

Very nice work; looks factory.

Personally I prefer the 61 Pontiac bubbletop over the 62 Bel Air bubbletop. The roof fits the lines of the Pontiac better IMO.

When I was about 12 or 13 (circa 1970) a woman in the town where I lived used to drive her kids to school in a pretty nice red 62 Bel Air bubbletop. It was the first time I'd ever seen a real one and I thought it was awesome. Never forgot it.

Come to think of it there were a lot of nice cars in that small town, and even in the apartment building where I lived. In our building parking lot there was a 64 Impala SS ht, maroon on black with a 327/300 4 speed; a black on red 390 Galaxie 500 convt., a verdoro Green 68 V8 Beaumont 2 door ht; and a brand new blue 69 Road Runner 383 car.

Not far from our apartment there was a light green 65 Caprice 4 dr ht with a 409; a 64 Malibu SS convt with a 283/220 4bbl engine; and a 63 Impala 2 dr ht, 283/manual trans.

At the garage behind our building the owner had a 69 Daytona Charger wing car with a 440 in the bronze color, and a 69 427 Vette, also in whatever was the bronze looking color that year.

The remains of that Daytona were recovered from a ditch,  all the documentation was collected, and the car was sold to a buyer in the US a few years back. The story of the recovery was documented on a website a few years back by the guy who saved the car, but that website is no longer active.

Anybody who watches Graveyard Cars may recall the episode a couple of years ago where  Mark Worman was asked to restore a Daytona where he was concerned that there was very little of the original car left. Although the docs and tags were with it, Worman declined to take on the car.

That car was the same one that I used to see every day in the summer of 1970, before the owner sold it and bought a 426 hemi Daytona. The Hemi car still exists and is in the hands of a local owner in Newfoundland.

Don't mean to make this a Mopar story, but the GM bubbletops reminded me of the interesting cars in my small town 50 years ago.

And of those two 69 Daytona Chargers that have pretty much become local muscle car legends in my area.

Nice cars, the Daytona owned by Vernon?

I was in St. Johns in 2018 and went to see a friend of mine, Barry Tippett. He said Vernon had his Daytona at a show in Bay Roberts or Carbonnear, his tow vehicle broke down so he left the trailer with the Daytona in it parked somewhere. Barry didnt think that was a good idea so he drove over and took the trailer home to his place. I bet the Daytona had the keys in it.

Canada had about 35% of the 62 bubbletops built by gm, way more per capita than the us. If I remember correctly, about 740 8s and 2500 6s, I had one of each and had gm documents on them.

No, Vernon has a Superbird but not a Daytona as far as I know; certainly he doesn't have the hemi Daytona I'm talking about.

Barry also has  nice collection, but Vernon's is by far the largest on the Island,  with unique cars.

Those are interesting production numbers - it would be interesting to know how much money a buyer would save by getting the Belair bubbletop vs the the impala 2 door htp

I checked my GM documents for 62 Canadian bubbletops, 710 of the V8 model, 2045 of the 6, both were powerglides.

I would guess a few hundred dollars difference for a similarly equipped Impala VS the BelAir.
