Annual Christmas Tour of Toronto

Cut short by COVID-19 this year, no Ballet, Symphony etc... to attend although we did subscribe to on line streaming of the shows, a little bit of Festive Spirit still about.

Downtown I stopped in around Eaton Centre at lunch time. Security was not letting anyone in so it was really locked down. I got in, usually its mayhem on Christmas Eve. My office is in this area, generally known as Downtown, Eaton Centre area  or Financial District. I know many can't envision Downtown Toronto's hustle and bustle, there are more people downtown than the populations of most Provinces, that's what makes these photos so remarkable.....no one around. Anyway here we go, Husdon Bay Windows and Eaton Centre area.

Queen and Yonge streets 1L30 am Christmas Eve 2020.

Memories...light the corners of my mind... We used to trek downtown from the wilds of Wrecksdale (as it's known now) to take in the windows at Eaton's and Simpson's, AND to eat the chestnuts offered by the street vendors.

I'd be afraid of getting caught in the crossfire of a dispute over turf amongst the denizens of Regents Park, nowadays...

If you came all the way from from Rexdale there is no way you'd travel that far east through what was Regent Park and besides Regent Park was razed years ago and replaced with a beautiful new development, new stores and an Olympic Aquatics facility and sports field. When were you last in Toronto??

Watch the documentary "Farewell Regent" for the real story.

There is actually more crime in Regent Park than ever.
