How to explain to the wife, Why you have so many cars ?

I got a text from the wife today.

A man was at the door wanting to know if the car in my laneway was for sale.

(my uninteresting project biggrin)

It was left out as I needed to access the Parisienne.

My wife told him I would be home soon.

He said he would come back.

First of all,

This is a lockdown in Ontario.

Strangers are not welcome at my house.

Second,

It's my project hmm

While we were waiting for him to return, I got the questions from the wife.

"Why so many cars ?"

I do have more cars than some but less than other people I know wink

I do have more than I need but the cars I have, need me.

I actually had this car sold a while back but the kid changed his mind.

So I got the usual discussions weapons out.

I don't drink ! (not against it, just don't)

I don't smoke ! (to each there own)

I don't play golf ! (never was good at it anyways)

And the best one of all,

We are in a lockdown, what else am I going to do with my time weirdface.gif

I'm looking for more reasons to give her to explain why I need more cars than I can drive.

Went out to get some air.

Came back in and said to my wife,

What car ?

The guy shows up,

The car is for his daughter.

They were driving by together today when she spotted the car.

She screamed "Stop dad there's a Cougar"

They had just given up trying to restore the twin car because it was far too rotted.

It was to be the 16 year old's first car.

Yep she stole my heart.

So now, I have one less car and a bit of money.

What my wife doesn't understand is that this puts me in the buying mode again shh.gif

I can understand where everyone is coming from
went Moose hunting this fall but no luck no tags
but got some nice pics.
Talking to my wife I told her no luck on meat
but found a real nice 1947 Willy's told her I was
bringing it home.
Her next statement was which one do you want
me to get rid of, instant heart attack.

Mine threatens divorce! I had my Chevelle over a year before a "friend " let it out that I was building another car, it was awful quiet for a while.

And then there might be the "One too many car club" of single guys. The tough ones are when you know it is a real good deal and you have to move on it quickly. Sometimes nice when the seller can keep for a few days or weeks....

Having a large acreage can be either good or a problem this way.

Over the years I kept on adding parts cars and interesting future projects and parked them in little pods around the place until my wife asked me one day to add up how many we actually had. I was silly enough to do that on my fingers in front of her and as we went  around the digits the second time and kept going her eyes started to widen in shock. I was a bit surprised too, to tell the truth.  Luckily since she has a tendency to become a crazy cat rescuer lady we agreed on a few of things that have saved my butt.

1.  Since we have numerous cats I will be allowed to buy another car when she rescues another cat. (Not sure how parts cars work in this

equation since they are technically non functioning. I guess that means she could get a dead cat.)

2. It is true we are now officially hillbillies but at least none of the cars are burnt or upside down.

3. The more derelict cars we have scattered around the less we need a fancy alarm system. A simple spray-bomb notice on red on the side of one that says YERE BEAN WATCHED!!!! seems to keep the casual visitors, salespeople and other proselytizers away nicely as well as reducing land value for tax purposes.

What can I say? That works for me especially since I have been able to slip a few more in over the years as they all kind of look alike to her anyway. The latest is a quite nice  1948 IHC KB5 grain truck that she has yet to even notice. heh heh heh...

Ha living in downtown Ottawa I have cars stashed in neighbours and rented garages. Sometimes cars disappear for a year or two then reappear. Being a senior citizen who is still working helps...

When I bought the 59 el Camino, I told her I bought a boat. When I drove in the driveway, first time she saw the boat, she laughed to kill herself. It hasnt always gone that way but proper preparation helps a lot.

It sure helps if your wife actually has a sense of humour (at least some of the time)  I'm lucky that mine actually laughs during this song even knowing that it is at least 50% true.
