1950 Pontiac Silver Streak Parts

Hey all,

New member. I've got a '50 Pontiac Silver Streak (Canadian) and looking for parts, specifically some new windshields. **Any info on a Canadian glass supplier would be appreciated!** Mostly the parts I can find are from a (US) Fleetline or Styleline, but I want to make sure that I don't buy the wrong windshields. Can anyone tell me which car I should "pretend" to have to order correct parts?

Thanks,

Doug

Welcome from a fellow 1950 Silver Streak Owner, oh pardon me , my wife is the owner of our 1950 Silver Streak.

Canadian made 1950 Chevrolet Fleetline Should be the same , leave this question run for a bit, there are a lot  of well informed gentlemen on this  site. you'll get confirmation I am sure.

Welcome again

Regards

Dale

I also believe Chevy Fleetline is the same, but don't take my word for it.

If nobody here answers with absolute certainty, I suggest you try our local (Regina) classic/muscle car/hotrod/streetrod glass specialist.

i have the same car and was looking for the same information . i suspect then , from the answers you got , that the 50 chevy fleetline will work ? in this environment (covid, closed border) id hate to order glass from the usa only to find out it is wrong .

I talked to Will in Regina today and it's looking like he can get them for around $175 each. He has a part # DW110 and DW109 but I am about 98% positive that I need #DW111 and DW112. I think he just looked up Pontiac, and those numbers are for a sedan delivery or some shit, so I'm guessing he's not an expert on those cars, fair enough, with the whole Canada thing LOL! I'll post when I have more info.

Well, I have been doing a shitload of research and have made the decision that Yes, we have a "Fleetline" body. Information is scarce out there but I'm pretty confident now. I am going to order the DW111 & DW112 windshields. I will post again when I have confirmation of fitment. Likely in a couple months.

I'm still open to any info from all you Pontiac people.

I have added some screens below for reference.

I had a local shop order glass for a 1950 fleetline which Is the fast back model. This glass is one inch shorter than a regular 2 or 4 door sedan. When the glass came in it was incorrect but I had an glass installer cut one inch off the glass and than he installed it. With the fastback model the roofline is lowered.

Not sure I understand. If you ordered the Fleetline Glass, it's the fastback, which is shorter. Because roofline is lower. Then you had it cut 1"? Or did they order for the coupe etc. which is taller? I assume you have the fastback... I assume they ordered the taller (coupe) glass.

Do you remember any numbers, as this is the only way to order these.

From my research, I think the following: Fleetline (fastback) same body as Canadian Pontiac uses DW111 & DW112 glass. Coupe, hardtop uses DW109 & DW110.

Thanks.

look up Steelrubber.com and you can cross reference the weatherstrp applications. Usually US Pontiac and Chevrolet used the the same windshield  seals model to model.

Thanks Dale.

Pretty sure you mean Steelerubber.com with an e but thanks! I've been to their site and there is no "cross reference" to 1950 Chevy Fleetline that I can find. Also, I am not dealing with a "US Pontiac". This is specifically what I am posting about asking for info. There is definitely a difference between models, especially the DW109/ DW110 windshields VS the DW111 & DW112 as the windshield was apparently 1 inch different in height. I appreciate your input but the information I'm looking for is more specific than you have offered. I specifically have a 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak (Canadian version) that I believe is the same body as a Chevy Fleetline, and want to confirm.

thanks.

The glass shop made the error and we received the glass for a 2 door sedan not a fastback. I wanted tinted but they could not supply it at the time. Your body is the same as a canadian built chevrolet fastback. You will need the shorter glass for your fastback. Al

Okay, well I finally got the glass and had it installed. Yes the DW111 and DW112 are the right ones for my Pontiac. I dealt with Will at Novus Glass in Regina and had a great experience! He's a really good guy. I would highly recommend him.

Thanks to everyone for the good advice!

I picked it up 2 years ago and I also bought a 2000 Corvette chassis from salvage. So I did the logical thing. I chassis swapped the Poncho! Came out great and I even kept the original patina in tact. Widened the rear fenders and made them removable (That was a TON of work!). But I'm super stoked with the result and it's a riot to drive. Turns heads and tires too!

Here's a link to my YouTube Channel. There's a bunch of vids on how I did it. Also keep watching for my newest video featuring the Poncho... and my cool IH Metro!

Cheers!
