Are your personal documents reflecting your current situation

My wife has been doing legal work for 63 years.

My wife's daughter is in a nursing home for the past 5 years.

Years ago her  son was only 9 years old  and old not legally be appointed for his mothers care.

My wife and and older sister were appointed for  personal care.

That 9 year old is now 36 and cannot get any information on her condition as he is not named in the personal care document.

Thurs night the nursing home called to say that she had been taken to hospital on a respirator.  Sending chills and anxious thoughts throughout the house as the 36 year old son is staying with us through the covid spell.

Sat morning we couldn't get any information on her status.

Stat evening we got to talk to the nurse caring for her.

She had not been put on a respirator but was put on medication to treat her condition.

We expect to hear today on the covid tests taken.

Just a note to dig out personal care papers and be certain they are current.

New personal care documents have been forwarded to the hospital and the nursing home.

Test for covid came back NEGATIVE. Daughter had a serious urinary Infection is on the road to recovery. Now have to wait for nursing home to see if they need another covid test before she returns. She will be put in isolation for a period upon her return. The family is relieved by the diagnosis at the hospital. A few tense days here.

This post is a good reminder to keep legal stuff up to date. Even more so if you don't have certain things such as a will. All too often we are reminded how short life can be.

Wife's daughter returned to nursing home yesterday and today the entire nursing home got their covid shots. 60 people. Have you checked those important documents?
