I'll say. No normal human being would do that for any other reason.

No way guys,   turning an old truck into a factory correct automatic is just like turning a car in to a factory 4 speed.   the rarety and desirablity works i reverse when i comes to trucks.

Just my opinion!

The voice of recent experience. Plus its a well known fact a conversion to 3 pedals is an investment.

Back in the 70s a friend had a 1966 GMC pickup with a 327 and a powerglide. Wish I could have it today. It was a well used truck, but would be very restorable by todays standards. It originally had starting gates in the box for a horse harness racing track. Thats why the powerglide trans. It was also a big window custom cab, pretty fancy for its time.

Automatic pickups were very rare around here until the mid 70s or later. Automatic cars were pretty rare too until the early 60s, everything was 3 on the tree.

This one has me guessing for factory. Thinking no one put that third pedal in (looks factory) but no factory hole in floor and no nub on column for shifter(auto or standard)??? No shift forks at end of column for 3spd. Thinking someone put a floor shift (4 speed) column in a 3 speed 3 pedal truck?? Kinda cool...but would be hard to find parts today!!!

A lot of those columns would have been in four speed with a granny low, 3/4 tons, not real hard to find.  I remember driving a 68 ex
Light & power truck, 2wd. Used it to tow a guy who left the Mount Pleasant flying club the night before, he went in the ditch straight across the road, the club sold liquor.

Mount Pleasant flying club was built on the old WW2 runways left over from the air flying school that was there.
