Anybody a CCM expert here?

Hi Guys I won't go into it in detail but suffice it to say the trip that I went on today was necessary but what I brought home probably wasn't.

However it was so cool and is in such great shape even my normally dubious wife (who is a long time Scouter) said it was a good acquisition.

It is a unrestored 1938 CCM Boy Scouts of Canada model bicycle. That is much as I know about. (The year I was able to decode from the serial number.

Does anybody know anything about these  unique, truly Canadian bikes?

Cool find Ken!!! I still have my CCM from childhood...just not the 38 model, more like 72. I see the brake lever is the same! Mine had a Banana seat and sissy bar. Looks like the cat is waiting for a turn.

Nice bike, great find. Good that it is a boy's bike (girl's bikes are much more common survivors in good shape).

The Boy Scouts affiliation makes it a nice crossover collectible.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that.  I don't know the back story on it but it is pretty safe to assume it spent of lot of years tucked away in a garage instead of being ridden to death like most of my bikes.

There must be a story there, probably related to the war I would guess.

It is a 1937 by the way as my wife has corrected me.

To be honest our present preference is to donate it to a (Scouting?) museum but we'll keep this in mind.

I will say at this point in my life I don't really want to start yet another collection but I had to save this thing.

My wife is a long time scouter so we have a connection to the outfit.

Turns out the Scouts Canada National Museum in Ottawa wants it real bad so that is where it is likely going to end up!

We just have to get it there so I told my wife to start pedaling as soon as the snow lets up!

Good stuff! I recently donated a piece to the Kingston Penitentiary Museum. I like finding the perfect home for items!

A presentation plaque to a judge with a brass cell number (#3) that was torn off by the inmates during the infamous 1971 riot.
