Intro and Vin request

Greeting from Alberta... First ever Pontiac. Rescued a Safari Laurentian... been sitting at least 20 years.. Not a Pontiac fan per say,Pontiac cowl tag.jpgPontiac Wagon 1.jpg  but a cool car nonetheless and really hate to see this old stuff scrapped.  Need help decoding  the Oshawa vin #.  By all indication it seems to be a '65 with a 283. Any help appreciated.

Apologies on the size of the pics.

 I'll give this a shot off the top of my head. I can confirm it later in the books.

756 = Laurentian

35 = Station wagon

2 = second shift at the factory

3 = the month, March

8 = the day

C = White

T = Top colour, and I can't think of the name at the moment

222 = interior trim colour, also escapes me

A33 = power rear window I think?

D99 = 2 tone paint

I will check T and 222 later if nobody steps up with the answer.

Welcome here! VERY cool car, and rare in a two tone. Is it a 3 on the tree? I don't see M35 for Powerglide on the cowl tag.

Thanks for that... turned cold here so havent even unloaded it yet. By all indications its a two-speed Powerglide transmission. Doesnt look to be a repaint - maybe on the roof? so not sure about the 2 tone , but seems to be factory white on white.
Some doucheweasel stole the headlight bezels last fall so need to track down a needle in a haystake i guess....

Looks like you're missing the low beam bucket on the passenger side, and both headlight bezels. Give Flatla Auto Wrecking near Tilley AB a try. High beam & low beam headlight buckets are different, and possibly different drivers side to passenger side.

Welcome to the site. Any 65 Laurentien saved is a great thing! And I'm sure that particular model is few and far between anymore.

I have a pair of the chrome lamp bezels. But they are pretty pitted up.

 And I think I did D99 wrong. It's the moulding that splits the colours on a car with a two tone paint job but on Canadian Pontiacs we could order that moulding without actually ordering two tone paint.

Odd that it doesn't have the M35 for Powerglide on the tag. I'm more of a 66 guy and they did but maybe 65 didn't. My 66 was a 3 on the tree so the tag is lacking a code for transmission just like your tag is.

 Mark, does your tag have M35 on it?

 But it was originally a Powerglide, right?

Welcome to CP and great save.
The suggestion of Flatla Wreckers is a good one as he had two 65 full size Pontiacs. Unfortunately, for you, the best set of 65 headlight chromes that he had are now in my possession. As I remember the other set was pretty decent also. Good luck.

Regarding the stampings on the data tag I believe all have now been decoded.
Just a note that my original 65 Custom Sport does have the M35 stamping on the bottom line of the data tag ( the only option indicated on that bottom line )

Do you guys both have Oshawa built cars? Maybe the plant his car is from didn't stamp the M35's for some odd reason?

 What am I missing? Seventh letter of VIN is O. Is this not Oshawa?

Yes, my 65 CS is Oshawa built according to GMVVS.

So what does "B" designate?

Edit; I see that question was asked on the other vin thread...

 Whoops, sorry! Yes, I was confusing this with the other thread for the 66 Parisienne hardtop where his plant identification digit is B.

Pontiac Dash.jpgThanks to all ... great info and suggestions. The best part of this car is the uber cool dash layout. Was this style only around for the '65 - '66 model years?
