It was $1500. You'd think it was 15 million the way they respond to these small claims.

Bell is deplorable to deal with. Even the smallest and simplest of things always seemingly end up a challenge with them. Any request always requires follow up by us in some way. It's like a game.

Not withstanding how vilified Bell Canada is, this is clearly a case of paramount foolishness on behalf of the car owner.

All he had to do was make a claim with his insurer, get car painted and live a happy life. His insurer would have subrogated for the deductible.

bell by far is the most corrupt company i have had to deal with, i have had to fight with them on multiple occasions with my business phone and internet.just call the crtc and see how many complaints have been filed against them, a total nightmare to deal with and seem to get away with ripping people off with no consequences

they are also experts at keeping you on hold for multiple hours then "accidentally" cutting you off making you call back and go through the whole process again

Rates are high enough as it is, so it's not at all surprising people have a fear (even if misguided) of filing any claim these days to their own insurer. And why would he have, it was cut and dry that the workers intentional action damaged his car. It was no "accident". We're tired of being hosed at every turn, and all try our best to fly under the radar best we can, so as not to jeopardize our rates. A claim is a claim, get enough of them, even no fault and you'll somehow become a "risk".

And I have to ask, just how difficult would it have been for the trenching company to have simply made right by the guy from the get go?

One important part missing. Bell is technically not on the hook for anything. They farmed it out to a third party. Most companies are farming things out this way as they have laid off almost all of their technical staff.

There are a few "places" that I dread making a phone call to ... Bell is one. Provincial/Federal departments are another.
