All 1970 Tempest and LeMans received the engine callout in red with chrome outline on the rocker panel just behind the front wheel.
Standard 6 cylinder cars had no call out but optional V8s did with 350 or 400 being affixed on the rocker. 400 was available with either a 2bbl at 265 HP or 4 bbl. at 330 HP.
This very nice Safari has the 350 on the rocker indicating that it has the 350 engine installed.
With the 255 HP 350 2 bbl. you could expect a 0-60 run in just under 10 seconds and a 1/4 mile run just over 17 seconds. Top speed would have been just under 120 mph.

That's funny as code 48 turned into Brewster Green in '73. A one year only color.
That is correct.
In 1971 Code 48 was not used, in 1972 Code 48 was Wilderness Green, in 1973 Code 48 was Brewster Green in 1974,75,76 Code 48 was not used, in 1977 & 1978 Code 48 was Berkshire Green.
That covers the use of Code 48 by Pontiac in the decade of the 70's. Of course the Code was used by other Divisions with names that are different for esch Division.
Regardless of whatever colour it is, I like it! Thankfully this one made it past the 'anything that's not a convertible or hardtop is a parts car' era...
