Had a rip on a old Enticer 340,

Two weeks ago, I had a little blast around on a 81 (I think 81) Yamaha Enticer 340 at a buddies place. Been a long time since I've been on a sled of my youth (I had a 81 Ski Doo Citation SS), and I don't quite fit these anymore as you can see. But I can't tell you how fun it was.

There is something about these old simple 2 stroke machines, and the sound and smell brought it all right back. New ones can't make you laugh or smile like these.

The snow out back was drifted to about 2' deep and as I was blasting through one I tipped over and took a tumble. Face full of snow... I loved it but suffered a sore hip for a week. I must admit there may have been beers involved.

I can see how guys get hooked on these nostalgia sleds, man they are a hoot...

Ah good memories indeed!  Rode lots of different machines over the years  but the classic is still the old 12 Elan!

These guys put it best.

That one looks pretty good for its age.  Not easy to find one in that good of shape anymore.  That's a keeper!

That was the first sled I ever rode. So light, you could ride on it's side on one ski.

When I was a kid, 1 year only, my Dad bought an Elan as well... It died. Our weather back in those days plus my Dad's tighter pockets, didn't allow for sleds. I never did ride any of the older sleds. Skip forward to '90 while in Labrador, I bought my first. A new Polaris 400 liquid twin. The next year, a '93 XLT with a '94 decaled helmet. (I know, not old but I am a tad younger) That went to the wayside in '97 when I moved out west. In '07, I bought a '94 XLT Special. Just over 4000mi at that time. This year, when she turned 8000mi and still going strong. I stopped and documented the milestone. Funny how in a bunch of newer sleds, people migrate to the old gal like an old car.

That is a very minty 94 Indy......... you guys are killing me with your old sled pics.  We had a couple ET250's growing up,........great little one lunger that could climb just about any hill.  Had a Yamaha GPX 433 FA as well until it blew up.

But, very sharp looking 94 Indy...........

That Indy is such a classic design that never seems to age.

Great memories for sure. I had an Artic Cat 440 when I moved out to BC when I was 18 but it kept sinking in this dry powder snow we have here. Spring riding was the best once the snow had firmed up. When I got married I bought my wife an Elan and we rode alot for 5 years or so until the kids started coming.
