Weird things I like about the car.

Kijiji user has been on Kijiji a long time.

The Ontario plate is an A series possibly suggesting long time ownership.

The interior is lightly covered in dust.

To me this all says a legit owner that's not trying to hide anything.

When Kevin wakes up, he may want to check out this Big Block in his neighborhood !

I bet it sells today.

I'm really surprised divorce lawyers are not advertising on car pages.

I need a really good defense sometimes biggrin

Let's hope the car went to a good home and isn't flipped in two weeks.

Not surprised its sold (kinda glad so I can ignore it now ;))but agree with Randy, hope someone bought that really wanted the car. I know everybody is free to do what they want but I keep old ads and often see the same car weeks later with a big price jump....and some made up story. If youre flipping it at least have the integrity to say it.

People buy stocks, funds and currency to Flip to make a profit. This is viewed as good investing.

People buying a car to Flip to make a profit is viewed as a heinous crime.  Why is that? confuse

Yeah I know I don't have any problem with flippers. I've flipped 7 cars now in less than the last 2 years. It's part of my hobby to make a few bucks during my retirement. Also sold a high end surf boat for a client. Something I enjoy and each person that bought from me knew exactly what was going on in that I had just bought the cars and was re selling them. I even advertised a few of them on here.

Sorry guys I obviously stepped on a nerve here a bit and that wasnt my intention. As I mentioned everyone is certainly free to resell a car, no issue at all, my point was more those that come up with a bogus story rather than simply selling the car.

I have to say I'm more in your camp on this one.

I've been in the situation where I was selling a car for a low but reasonable price, had a buyer give me a sob story about how much he loved the car and really wanted it.  I felt sorry for him and gave him a deal on it, while telling others who were offering me full asking price that it was sold.  Sure enough, not long after it was advertised for substantially more than I sold it to him for.  I wasn't impressed about being lied to like that.

I dunno... it's just my opinion but I have no problem with somebody reselling a car for market value if you got a good deal on it and were honest and upfront about it and presented the car honestly (as I'm sure is the case with our board members).  However it's frustrating to scan the ads and see a car advertised for a lower price and then see it for sale again a week later for quite a bit more than what was being asked (sometimes the pics still have it on the trailer, for crying out loud).  IMHO, this is just padding the pockets of somebody who doesn't really want the car, just wants to make money, whereas the guy who really wants the car is paying more to get it - which is money that he could have put into parts or restoration costs.

I know, it's a free market, and I can understand the draw to easy money that's not taxed or traceable, but the idealist in me wants to see the car go the person who really wants it, not the guy who just wants the money.  Unpopular opinion here, I suppose, but I may as well be honest about it.

 Right on Ray.

I did this for years and the last one was about 5 years ago. Even brought several up from the US when

our dollar was good. Some cars I kept for years while others were a quick flip.

My brother was a used/new car salesman for 50+ years and sometimes I got his leftovers.....smile

How is there room for profit once the taxes r paid, or r people flipping cars before putting them in their name pretty risky if it doesn't sell , just wondering

It just depends where they are sold. Mine are all project cars so not big dollar cars but you can make a couple dollars on each one. 6 of my cars went to Albertans who can get registration with just a bill of sale so I didn't have to register them. The last one was sold here in BC so I had to register and pay the taxes. Like anything you have to know your prices and I don't give any sob stories or anything if the price is right I buy. The part I pride myself in is trying to find them. I'm not getting rich by no means but it beats having a paper route because I don't like to be up that early in the morhing.

Sounds like you are getting cars out of situations where they might have eventually gone for scrap, and getting them into the hands of people who will get them back on the road, or at least use their parts to keep another one on the road.  IMHO you are actually servicing the hobby.

I didn't want to sound too harsh in my previous post.  Not that it's up to me, but regardless I would never have a problem with somebody buying a car, working on it and improving it, and then selling it for more later on.  The only thing that gets under my skin is the imaginary case of some dude sitting there at his computer, rushing out to slap down cash for a cheap car before anybody else can get to it, and then turning right around and asking twice the price for it all within the same week or two.  There's nothing wrong with it, really, as it will only sell for what somebody is willing to pay for it... perhaps it's just jealousy on my part as I'd like to get the great deals instead of them (to enjoy the cars, not to re-sell...).  Might just be a perception problem on my part as well - maybe that imaginary dude doesn't really exist...  smile

Just tossing my in there, not that anybody really cares what I think - heck, I don't even care what I think half the time...biggrin

At the risk of sounding like a whiny baby ha ha, Ill re clarify that my comments were also in line with Mark! Bringing cars up from the US, finding and fixing up project cars and similar are not what I was referring to so hopefully my comments werent taken out of context. Like Mark my comments were somewhat rooted in frustration on missing out on cars....so maybe a bit of sour grapes in there too! Lol
