If Covid doesn't mess things up any worse, it looks like Kevin's "new" 66 will likely be on its way home sometime around the week of May 8th.
My Cousin and his wife live in Vancouver, basically right on Grandville island, so I'll spend some quality time with them (yes...we're vaccinated), then we'll come across to the island.
I've been playing with a rough driving distance / time line list. To start, this is what I have. What do you guys think?
Any and all ideas, suggestions, places must see, what to bring in car, supplies and anything else is appreciated here. Please put in your 2 cents worth. I'm listening...
Well first of all I would like to see your first day being a little shorter and for you to be able to spend the night here with us in Kelowna. Spend a couple hours here and show you a little of our beautiful valley plus maybe a garage or two if you are interested. I wouldn't treat it as a race as a trip like this may only ever happen once. Would be happy to host you here for sure.

Well thanks Jerel! I'm really under no time limit, and you are right I should treat it as a one time only thing.

Vancouver to Calgary can easily be done in a day, I've done it many times. - and you've got a friendly face here in Calgary.
Calgary to Regina is 8 hours (and the road only turns about 3 times), lots of places to stay there. Once you pass Regina your chances of decent accommodations minimize until you get to Brandon MB.
Vancouver to Jerel, Jerel to Clint, Clint to Carl, Carl to Relatives and Home.
Nice thing is from Clint's to here is a 110 kph speed limit except for the last 30 minutes to Morris. It's a pretty long day from Clint's to here, especially sitting on a 55 year old bucket seat that is likely sagged out pretty good.

I think I would go Calgary to Regina. It's about 8 hours I think. All the way to Morris is a long one alright. With my old car I went from Lethbridge to close to the Saskatchewan-Manitoba border. Then a real easy day into Winnipeg.

x2!!! The hospitality of "hanging" with Jerel!! Just trying to sound young!! Take in as much of each Province as you can as they are all beautiful and unique in their own way. Don't worry bout anything....these member will feed you, accommodate you and take you on the town. James and I did the 1/2 tour compared to you, but you'll be blown away about the hospitality!!
I know a test light is already on the list but maybe a multimeter also. How are the tires? 2 spares even if the second one isn't mounted.
Shouldn't need a test light if he has a multimeter. As far as packing goes....... All I took in the canso for spare parts was. Tire foam and a plug kit....no spare!!!! Extra fuel pump for the LS, fire extinguisher, small first aid kit, duct tape and tie wire. Metric and standard wrench/socket set.......damb modern LS!! Jug of oil..jug of water....you may need it before the car does (water not oil!!).... Most cars we drive for 3 hrs a day or more so a 40 or 50hr drive should be no biggie. Just pack the bread and butter stuff. If you blow a diff, have a rock through the windshield etc etc. What I'm trying to say is....don't worry have fun and enjoy the trip. From West to East..we have your back. If shit happens..one of us will be there to help you out......
I'll be on business class courtesy of my cousin in Vancouver. So 2 checked bags allowed. On top of the minor tools I'll bring, I'll Walmart it for anything else.
And yes I absolutely agree, you really can't plan for everything, and shouldn't worry too much either, I don't. But at the same time if it's stuff that could keep you moving, you should bring it, why not?

CAA card (which I have)

Just thinking ahead, will you pre-ship your road kit to BC so it's there when you arrive? Or will they let you take that on the plane?
I've had my check in (not carry-on) luggage custom-searched 3 times on return trips from ON. to PEI. I was carrying a lot of metal items (tools, fasteners, etc.). Some of the stuff was in plastic jars. Probably looked like pipe-bombs on the x-ray. I doubt they would allow some of the stuff listed above in a carry-on.

Oh for sure, carry-on would not allow enough tools to take the plane apart in flight!
You should have seen the look on the guys face at the X-ray machine in the 80's when my carry-on bag had a 66 Chevelle knee knocker tach with about 8" of wires hanging out of it.....looked exactly like one of those round bombs in the cartoons!

Carl, will you do the 4 speed conversion while hes in Morris, or should it happen in bc before hitting the road?
Seriously, maybe take something like seafoam for gas treatment from r the first tank you burn and seafoam also make a treatment for automatic transmission. Does that stuff help old powerglides? Check cooling lines to rad? Anything else on the outside of the pg?
