2020 must have aged me...

I picked up a couple of items at the pharmacy today and while the cashier was ringing in my items she says "and I'll just apply a little discount here". I thought that was nice of her. Then I got the reciept: "Senior Discount Applied"

hmm

I'm still a few years away from 55. The grey is starting to take over however....

Not sure what's good news or bad news here, Todd. I'm over 55 and don't think I ever got any discounts anywhere! I'd love to have them! On the other hand, medical travel insurance which I sell pretty much on a daily basis is a factor of age: the older you are the more you pay so I'm not looking forward to that when it comes time to travel again.

55 for seniors is more of an American thing....No one ever gave me my discount until I was 65.

A couple of years ago we were invited to stay with snowbird friends in Naples Florida. We were 70 and 64 at the time. No discounts anywhere because the majority, anywhere we went, were more mature than us!

McDonalds has offered discounted coffee prices for seniors (55+) for years. They dont promote it, you have to ask for it. Buck twenty five for a small coffee in BC. Never been asked for ID to receive the discount.

The first time I was called "sir" by a young person, I looked around... wondering who he was addressing... biggrin

Shoppers Drugmart (Pharmaprix in Quebec) does the same.

I was shopping at The Ingersoll Grocery store at 6am every Tuesday.

Just me and a few others. They all seem to know each other.

After about 6 months of doing this the cashier asked me, "Are you a senior"

I said "not yet"

She said "I have been giving you the discount because Tuesdays is Seniors Day and only seniors get up this early."

"If you come on any other weekday at 6am, you will have the store to your self"

I don't shop on Tuesdays anymore smile
