Coin collections, what have you found in your classic cars ?

About 10 years ago, when I was restoring my 1988 built in Ohio.

I found a shinny 1988 American quarter under the back seat.

I'm the original owner so I believe it was left there during production in Ohio.

That coin went right back where I found it when I reinstalled the interior.

I consider it good luck.

My other 88 Mercury Cougar came with a 1967 centennial quarter in the glove compartment.

Nice kitty.

Last year when I removed the interior of the 69 Parisienne, I found an interesting collection.

All the regular money dates from the 80s.

These are Niagara Falls Bridge tokens used for various attractions at the Falls.

The car lived most of it's life in Port Colborne but I'm sure she got to cruise the Niagara Parkway a few times.

The most humorous find was in another 1988 Cougar that I was taking apart for parts.

As I removed the steering column these dropped out.

Yep, copper shims in the "U" bracket. I had to take my car apart just to see what mine had, just a regular shim no

I guess they ran out of shims that day biggrin

Did your car ever make you rich ?

No coins but when helping with the teardown of Joe's red Beaumont SD we found a vintage unused Trojan under the rear seat!

When I disassembled my Cali built Yeoman, I found a '58 quarter, oddly enough, painted either in primer or the Cay Coral the car was originally painted in. Maybe someone put it in the car when they started to paint it? I would tend and hope and believe it to be that way.

Usually find $2-$3 in various coins. Toonies are a big win. Had a nice little party supply in the Pontiac you got the nose cone from. Probably best one was a complete set of 65 Beaumont SD trim plus 2 SD emblems in a trunk that I couldnt get into when I bought the car. I bought a 66 Beaumont 4 door hardtop and the trunk was loaded with every kind of replacement part for 66. The parts sold for more than I paid for the car and the 283 is what powers my 64 now. It had been recently rebuilt.

From an old 67 Caprice Strato bench I got from Kevin came this origin specific haul. Sorry, just one thin USA dime and two coppers!

The Caprice was from Vegas, and it even came with a rough hand written bill of sale. I still have it all except the choke spring assembly ( I think it went back to Kevin). The Marlboro's were great!

Nothing that exciting. I owned a 69 Dodge Coronet back in the 80's and under the back seat I found some bullets. There was also a switch hidden under the dash to cut off all the lights but headlights. I suspect this car had a shady past. It came out of Texas. Also the back seat had the build sheet from a Yellow 69 Superbee,

The most interesting thing I found in the glove box of one of my part cars was the original letter from GM about the big engine mounts recall where they had to put cables around the exhaust manifolds so your engine torque wouldn't jam the throttle. Kind of a neat item. I think I posted it here some time back.

Found this under the dash pad when I gutted the interior for restoration. I thought it was cool that it is the same year as the car. A keepsake for sure!

A lot of owners would put a date of manufacture "lucky penny" in their car. My Dad did this, and as a kid I would try to find it to buy some Black Cat gum!biggrin

Didn't find any coins or any valuables, but did find this in an area that's not accessible after it was built. Put there as a joke on the assembly line?

I found an ATT in the trunk cavity along the rear quarter panel lower than the side marker light in the LeMans.

It wasn't all that dated but got me wondering why the guy I bought the car from was transporting a handgun in an old Pontiac from Orillia to Barrie.

I ran into a guy at Pick n Pull who told me he found $800. in a envelope under a sun visor at the yard......nice find.

Last week I had to replace the heat element in our 2007 dryer and decided to rip the dryer completely apart to clean

out the hard to get at  lint. Found just shy of $5.00 in assorted change. Most of it was  in the drum baffles and the coins were worn down around the edges.

The dryer is now quiet.

Check your washer also. You'd be amazed at how laundry detergent corrodes newer coins.

had a part time job last year refurbishing used appliances. we found money in almost all dryers to the point we causally ask how much in that one. think the most we found was almost 20 bucks in change.

Same as when I worked at our Island Waste Watch. We had a kitty jar of washer/dryer change in which we dipped into every couple weeks for treats for the crew.
