A PEI Barn Find - A BSA Motorcycle

A friend of mine picked this up today. We "think" this BSA is a 69 Firebird A65F.

She's pretty rough. Last registered in 1975. He's not sure what he'll do with it. Pretty much everything is seized.

The find:

What we think it should look like:

Should be an "A65L", Lightning, Twin carbs... the single carb was the Thunderbolt. The Scrambler had both pipes down the left side like the pic you have  shown. Did you do an inspection of the engine serial number?  (unless something was changed) Mine was an L..

Would that BSA be considered a "Scrambler"? Like on/off road.?

The frame number matches the engine:
Frame: AC17900 and A65F

Engine: AC 17900 A65F

It has the twin carbs with those cool air cleaners. Ironically the Mecum Las Vegas motorcycle auction started today and I was shocked to see these bikes not fetching much - around 3k USD. Likely cost 10K to restore this one.

I wonder if the pipes were switched out. Whoever owned it originally put a ton of miles on it. Over 166000! Perhaps he got sick of those two pipes on the sides and switch over to the ones that are on the bike now?

Cool find, but unfortunately in real rough shape. I would spruce it up a bit and use it as wall art. Maybe, the owner can sell whatever good parts are on it?

He likes to tinker so I suspect he'll see if he can get the motor freed up and running and go from there.

Thanks for the link Steve. I've passed it along to my friend.
