Power Brake Booster Check Valve

I was looking at my power brake booster and the check valve comes straight out of the booster. They usually have a 90 degree bend and are not a straight design. As far as I can tell it is an original fitting. Maybe it is not a 'check valve' but just a straight plug for the vacuum hose. Does anybody have clarification on this? Just curious!confuse

Thanks Clint. I pulled the one out of my car and it does function like a check valve. It didn't look big enough when it was installed in the booster. Just for fun I tried to see if there was a reproduction available. Nope, but NOS ones are crazy priced! I can't find one listed for a '69 Impala, that is the straight design. '63 Corvette is a match though. Very strange!

Interesting. All the B-bodied Pontiacs (American) Ive owned, used the Delco Moraine booster, and they all had a 90 degree check valve on them. I am guessing that the straight design was used only on the Bendix brand? They sure want big money for NOS ones! Surprised a repo isnt available. Didnt know that the check valves could be rebuilt. Curious to know what is involved in that? Thanks!

I am thinking John means he has rebuilt the boosters, not actually the valve. I can't see how a guy could rebuild one of those?
