Trunk mat

More 1965 Parisienne questions. Was the trunk mat the same design and color as the Impala ones and was there any kinda cardboard fillers ?

I know '64s have the same mats as Impala, and '64s had black cardboard trunk side panels.

I have never seen any traces of cardboard panels in 65's or 66's.

You wouldn't be in the minority Ken ... that is if the panels still existed in those car years.

My car was kept day one original and they were long gone.

I've scrapped quite a few '64s and finally found a rough set in the last parts car. They are complete and will make good patterns at a later date.

I should post some pictures to show what they look like.

At least some of the 66 Grande Parisiennes had them. My first one that I bought in 1975 still had them when I got the car.

My experience with trunk mats has been very bad. Bought a re-pop trunk mat for my 66. Put it in and the next spring when I lifted it out for a good spring cleanup, I found surface rust starting under it. The mat (rubber) trapped condensation under it and wherever the paint had been worn away, rust was starting.
Personally, Id ever put another one in one of my cars, except maybe for a show, and only during the show.
