So here’s the way one person is celebrating a 100 years.

So today is my moms big day of the century. Was snow in Alberta overnight so 4 of her smart lady friends moved the party up to Monday when it was nice and sunny on her deck. These ladies know how to have fun and there is no shortage of laughs. Her best friend shown here spearheaded the whole thing and she is over 90 herself. They do enjoy themselves even in difficult circumstances. Attitude makes a big difference the way I see it.

Will definitely pass it on. Amazingly she will remember each of you by name, especially Barb. You have to love small town Alberta. Drive by parade planned for 7 pm lead by the police and fire department. Will be curious how many will show. I have heard of people coming from Edmonton an hour away. Little different than the big city but all is good.

Will do. She knows how much the car culture means to me.
Will share a little story which I sure hoped I haven't done before. If someone has seen it I will quickly delete it. Goes back to last summer as we were driving to Quebec. Going through Saskatchewan just about into Manitoba on the Trans Canada we catch up to a fairly new Corvette with Nova Scotia plates and he is doing exactly the speed limit. All fine but I mentioned to mom that is unusual for anyone to be doing exactly the speed limit and especially someone who could be going much faster. Jump ahead a couple hours and we stopped for a bathroom break and a bite to eat but then we catch up to this Corvette again dialed in at whatever the speed limit is there entering Manitoba. I had just passed him and mom looks over at me and asks "So how many years did you have your Corvette?" I was floored how she would have remembered that I ever had a Corvette. I left home at 18 and lived a province away and on average saw my parents twice a year. Bought my 73 roadster in 1976 and sold it in 1983. And having said this my mom does not know cars at all, only by color. Anyhow it impressed me, just a little tidbit.

Jerel - all the best to your Mom
Sounds like our Moms were born the same year and month. My Mom would have been 100 next Sunday the 23rd. We lost her almost 6 years ago.
You're so lucky to have her and she's so lucky to be so sharp.

The community and her church are so good to her. Drive by parade tonight with a hundred vehicles, fire department, police, the mayor, and the local newspaper people attending.

 Wow 36500 days and counting! My grandmother lived 38234 days. Re letters from the Queen/ Prime Minister/ Premier.Some one has to apply to have them sent. My grandmother got all three in 1989. She passed in 1994. My mom has the letters now. Shes only 94 lol.

Yes she received her letter from the Prime Minister but hasnt from the Queen yet. My daughter applied for her and they said they were running behind with the ones from the Queen. Joke around her friends is she is often referred to as the Queen. On her 95th birthday they got a small crown for her.
