shipping a transmission from ON to AB?

I was in conversation with a gent to buy a transmission from his old LeMans;
For clarity, lets call this guy "Mr A.".
We made a deal in the price I would pay, and I gave him the name an number of another guy in Ontario (who we can call "Mr B.") that has shipped me a spare rear end - in my conversation with Mr B, he told me he has shipped alot out of Ontario and has pretty much nailed down the best way to ship.

Mr A. got as far as getting a quote from his preferred shipper, then (because of covid measures) made an appointment to drop it off;
Mr A. had the foresight to ask me to hold off on paying till it was shipped in case the quoted amount was off.
When Mr A. showed up for his appointment, his shipping quote was not honoured, and the shipping company wanted to charge something in excess of triple the quoted amount, so he walked.

I don't know that Mr A. has taken matters much further, but he was supposed to have reached out to Mr B. for advice.

I don't want to pester Mr A., but it's now been a couple weeks since he was supposed to have spoken to Mr B.

I did though just now send a text message (Mr A. only has a cell phone) to see if he spoke to Mr B.

I cannot recall where Mr A. lives, but he has a 705 area code.

Mr B. has 905 & 709 area codes.

Maybe some Ontarians who read this will know where geographically these area codes are, which might in turn play into any advice or thoughts that might be shared.

Or, maybe one of you live in Mr A.'s vicinity, and might be more willing to assist me in getting transmission.
(it's a cast iron case three speed manual transmission)

Would any of you have advice for me?

I would earnestly appreciate any help anyone might offer.

To the North of Toronto, you can cell phone in 905 or 705,

Depending on the cell phone company.

905 is greater Toronto and 705 is Barrie and North.

709 is Newfoundland and Labrador.

Most people have Canada wide calling so when they move, they keep their cell phone number.

My guess, it would be in the Barrie, Ontario area, about 4 hours from me.

I am in the south but me and another member are working to move a hood to the West this summer.

He may just come and get it.

Stay tuned !

 Its not looking good for me to head east to Ontario. My youngest has chosen a west coast university to pursue a masters in astrophysics. I expect most of my holidays to be chewed up on that trip as I suspect my dear wife will want to do a bit of touring the island.

Just by poking around this forum last year, a truck load ended up heading East and we were able to stuff some parts on to it.

As I told Eric, there is no rush to move this hood, it's art, in my rec room biggrin

mfleury, please let us know if your friend does head West.

I could run it up to the GTA to meet someone if needed.

I found out that this guy with the transmission is in Bracebridge;
Is anyone here in, or near there?

If anyone might be bringing something this direction, would this be too far out of the way to grab?
