If you have a "Wanted" ad and someone replies....

Be careful. A number of the car sites right now are reporting scammers answering ads for cars or parts wanted. They will say if you contact "so and so" at a certain email address, he has what you want.

Make sure if you get a reply like that here that it's a known, trusted member here. If in doubt, just come in here and ask if anyone knows the alleged seller.

I received a text like this 11 minutes after posting my latest kijiji ad for tires and wheels. I recognized this immediately as a scam.

As a rule of thumb, I never show my address or phone number on my kijiji ads - there are just too many (seriously) rude people out there who will show up or call at inconsiderate hours, then try to haggle with you after starting off on the wrong foot.

The absolute last time I posted contact information it was for a piece of vintage furniture;
There are people here who buy and flip vintage furniture, and I am certain this lady was one of them;
She was aggravating and rude;
Then when she tried squeezing me even more on my price I decided that it wasn't worth selling which would have made her happy, and me feeling ripped off.
I told her I wasn't going to sell it to her - and ended up throwing it out at a later date.
I didn't make any money, but I also didn't feel as though I had a raw deal, and it ended up wasting her time which almost made up for her rudeness.

What's even better, is if you only setup an ad for email only contact, you can block people if they irritate you - no need to worry about rude texts, or inconsiderate late night phone calls...

Occasionally I get annoying emails, some of them may be in earnest trying to be nice, but at least they don't have my contact information.
