It’s Time to Unplug the Hype Over Electric Vehicles

https://www.realclearenergy.org/articles/2021/07/11/its_time_to_unplug_the_hype_over_electric_vehicles_785025.html

"Indeed, attempting to electrify transportation makes little sense given the ongoing fragilization of our electric grid.

That fragilization is due to the ongoing closures of our nuclear and coal-fired plants as well as the grid's increased

dependence on weather-dependent renewables and power plants that rely on just-in-time delivery of natural gas.

Since 2016, the number of grid outages per year - what the DOE calls "major disturbances and unusual occurrences"- has nearly tripled."

Just saw an ad for a Lithium miner hyping their mine- they said 40% of vehicles sold in 2040 will be electric. Listening to what we are reading now, that seems low? It will take a long time to get rid of gas/diesel vehicles. Most of these projections turn out quite wrong for that far in the future.

Id say in cities in Europe and North America, it will be earlier than 2040, everywhere else, later. Unless- they find a way to make them cheaper than gas/diesel. Or much more maintenance free.

I agree Europe will have EV's way before we do. I just watched this video of this new electric truck coming out soon in England. These are best suited for "final delivery" in the city and not for cross country.

They kind of remind me of the trucks CAMI in Ingersoll, Ont is going to start building
