I recently filled that empty space with a 58 Parisienne convertible I picked up from a good buddy of mine with an amazing car collection. Im ecstatic having been able to pry this car away from him. He had owned it about 20 years and it was driven very rarely. It needs a little TLC, but is cleaning up nicely. Definitely not a restoration as it has a big block, 700R4, mid 60s buckets and a 64-66 Cutlass/442 console. The trunk letters were also not installed after he painted it, and its got a 6 cylinder grille emblem even though it was originally a V8 car (Ive got the GM Historical report).
Ill definitely have some questions as I clean up a few minor issues.
First questions. I need to order a top boot. Would this be the same as an Impala, or a Bonnieville? I also need a trunk mat as the one in the car is toast. Its different from the mat in my 58 Impala. Would this be the same as a Bonnieville trunk mat? Last thing is the little reflector on the drivers side quarter pod is missing. Any suggestions where I can order one?
Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing a Bonneville trunk mat would be close, might need to be trimmed down. For the red reflector, try Ames Performance Engineering in New Hampshire.

Welcome to the 58 Ragtop group, not many of us out there. Nice find, looks great. I had to go out to the garage to make sure it wasn't mine, also red with white insert. I should have that insert for the 1/4 emblem. I noticed on the trunk lid , 2 extra stars, never seen that before. I also have a bunch of stainless if Bob can't help.

Sounds good! Thanks.
Feel free to post some photos of yours on this thread!
When I picked up the Parisienne, it had its original crusty old dash in it with dull and pitted plating. The car came with a spare dash that was in much better condition so it was time to clean things up.
I removed the original speedometer cluster from the crusty housing, gave it a good cleaning and reinstalled into the bezel from the spare dash, disassembled the fuel, temp and oil pressure pod, gave it a good cleaning and reassembled, disassembled the clock from the car and installed the nicer bezel from the spare dash, cleaned up the lighter, reassembled, and have the dash ready to install. What a difference! Oh, I used 000 steel wool to clean up the new dash. It needs a little more work, but turned out pretty nice.
While I had the dash out I replaced the original style dash bulbs with LEDs.
Have a bit of dash wiring to clean up while I have the gauge assembly out and then Ill reinstall. I recently replaced the wiring harness in my 58 Impala. Im surprised how different the harness is in the Parisienne. I had assumed they would have shared wiring harnesses as theyre built on the same platform. Learn something new everyday.

Could someone advise if the temeprature sender will screw directly into the aluminum intake or will I need a reducer coupling? Glancing at it quickly, it looked to me like the sending unit was smaller diameter than the boss in the intake.
Thanks in advance.

It's missing a very special brass bushing that the end of the sending unit screws into. The bushing has a seat inside it that the flare behind the nut seats onto when you tighten that nut that is in your picture. You install the bushing into the intake, then screw the temp sender into the nut and tighten it. They are about impossible to find, at least the last time I needed one.
At one time I had a spare but I don't think I do any more. I'll check just in case though.

I couldn't find the right one (which is 1/2" male pipe thread) but I did find one that's 3/8" male pipe thread. This picture shows how the inside of the fitting must look in order for the sensor to seal.
The one I have would work for you if you purchase a bushing that is 3/8" female pipe thread, 1/2" male pipe thread but then you would be using 2 fittings to do the job of 1 and it's not as neat. I'll shop online and see if someone sells the piece you need.
