Bought a Buick

I couldn't resist this one. I picked up this very cherry 1994 Buick Park Avenue today from the original 92 year old owner. It hasn't seen a snowflake and is in excellent condition.

108000 miles (highway). Fella had his license taken away this year and he's sadly heading to a nursing home. He is still sharp as a tack though. Always maintained at the GM dealer and waxed it several times a year. He also had it oil sprayed every year even though it was stored winters. The floors are still shiny paint. This era of Park Ave is known for being extremely reliable. Parts are inexpensive too. Even came with a form fitting car cover.

Even the front plate suits me! biggrin

I noticed this 3800 still has the cast intake, not the plastic one.

There was one of those here on taxi here years ago. The 3800 had over 500,000 km on it and still ran well.

My Dad had this era of Buick (Regal). In later years he flip-flopped between Buick and Olds.

Is the Honda toast?

Thats a very nice find, does it have many bells and whistles? Air suspension, compass? I had an 89 Bonneville sse, it had about 9 buttons on the console for the seats. It had a digital dash and a bulb out reminder for all bulbs. With 4 Michelin radial snows amd my first vehicle with abs, it was an awesome car in snow and slush, the 3800 was also very good on fuel, never had any problems with it.

Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick? Great find. I'm sure you'll be torn between enjoying it, and preserving it.

The Honda still runs well but the paint it literally falling off it. It's still pretty much rust free and the AC still works. I wasn't really looking for a replacement but couldn't resist this one.

I may hold onto it over the winter and paint it in the spring and sell.

The Buick doesn't have air suspension or leather but is pretty much loaded otherwise. I have one lock actuator to address ($12 on Rock auto) .

Forgot to mention the seller's son delivered the car as well. Not bad since a tow 2 hours from home would have been pricey. Didn't want to drive that far as it doesn't have a current inspection and really hasn't been driven in the last 2 years.

That will be tough. I currently have a work vehicle and my wife works at home so it won't see much winter driving. The Honda only went 400km last winter.

I'm not a fan of leather either. It has a nice black cloth interior. Oh, it does have level ride suspension too as I noticed the compressor then heard it working.

We got the same engine here in Holden Commodore, Holden Calais, Holden Utility, Statesman and even in CV6 Monaro. They were initially the identical engine to that one, from an East-West install and ran a really long top radiator hose as it was installed longitudinally in Holden vehicles, they later began producing the engines locally and made some changes to fit them in a rear drive platform.
