1970 LeMans Sport in Buck's Auto Parts - Calgary

Was in Buck's today and saw a 70 LeMans in there.   350 Pontiac engine, turbo 350 & BOP differential.   Was bucket seats / console car but the interior is almost gutted.  It's very rusty, and is pretty picked over, but wasn't someone looking for rear glass or trim a while back?

Being an Oshawa built car, I was surprised to see the Pontiac block present.

I've seen many of them with Chevy engines (though not sure if they were 70, 71 or 72).  Didn't know Oshawa did both Chevy & Pontiac drivetrains in them.

 What are diff braces?  I'm not familiar with the A-body diffs.

Run from the front of the trailing arm to the top of the diff arm to triangulate and stiffen.Seem to be on most Oshawa cars.Only on sticks in the States.

When you say trailing arm, do you mean the lower control arm?   Or upper control arm (which already goes to the top of the diff)?  I'll see if I can get a photo of the diff this weekend.

I put tubular braces from the lower to upper arm. Got them from UMI.

Unless I'm mistaken these pictures should suffice - and should save 'seventy2plus2' from another trip to the yard;

I went back to the car today, because a member of another forum was interested in the tail lamp sockets - but it turned out they were the wrong style - so I had a small break from work, in one of the happiest places for me... a scrapyard - and best yet, I didn't spend a thin dome on this minute adventure - double-score!

Good stuff Jonathan. I think I found a home for the jack that I found in the trunk.
