Any boaters here?

Spending the weekend at probably one of the worst places to own a boat. Every 6 hours or so, the tide rises and falls in the bay of Fundy, record rise and fall is in Guinness, over 53 ft. About 160 billion tonnes of water in and out 4 times a day. The boats need a lot of hp to go against a tidal flow and you have a small window of time to come and go when there is enough water for your boat. Unless you stay out for the next tide. The fishing boats tie up to a wharf and then sit on the bottom at low tide, so the ropes have to be long enough to allow for the tide. People who sail in the bay have to be half nuts. Without an engine, just wind, you can only sail in the direction of the tide flow. The tide goes out a long ways.

Its a neat and unique place.

Was fun discovering that a while back. Walking around caves and little stems of islands were breathtaking.

That is amazing. It is hard to believe that much of a change. I was out Thursday on the Ottawa river where it widens out to form Lac Deschane. Went with my son in law who is a sailing instructor at the Britianica yacht club. Wasnt a whisper of wind so we just putzed along with the little engine in his 27 foot boat. Wouldnt have a hope with that engine in your situation. It was nice and relaxing for a day in October.
