Too bad about the VIN tag..

1967 GTO convertible, 4 speed. This GTO is being offered for sale from a local estate, it has been barn stored undriven for the past 41 years, It is a correct 400 cu. in. 4 speed car with power steering and power brakes. Engine starts and sounds fine. Convertible top works and is in excellent condition, paint condition is poor and has had a color change from its original colour of Linden Green Met. to Burgundy. The vin tag has been removed and will be sold with an issued Province of New Brunswick assigned vin tag. It's probably buried in a drawer or tool box.

I didn't notice how many miles on it, may have missed it. Be curious to know.

Interesting about the vin. Data tag shows the 242 making it legit.
How will this dictate the selling price ?

first time I've seen full wheel discs on a GTO ? And red rad hoses and one (1) whitewall.? Don't think I've ever seen a GTO without a console, auto or 4spd ?

I once owned a 1968 Beaumont with bucket seats with no console with a powerglide on the column. A friend of mine about the same time owned a 70 GTO with buckets and a four speed without a console. There were lots of odd combinations when you could order what you wanted. Options today are usually part of a package and you may not want everything in the package but you dont have a choice. Just remembered a 74 Buick Apollo on a friends car lot back in the 70s, a four door with bucket seats and console!

Thst was a new idea around that time. Remember the Gran Am came like that in a four door. was also a Cutlass 4 door with buckets as a special model.

Wheel discs look like 1973 Pontiac 14 inchers?

Mileage stated as 12345. Nice car.

Would those numbers on the block be a partial vin? Is there a vin anywhere else on these cars? Frame somewhere? Looks like a solid car.

I'm sure there's a VIN somewhere on the car that could be used to get the original ownership. Sad thing is the deceased owner could have hidden the VIN tag in a toolbox or a dresser drawer. Would be a shame to have a provincial VIN assigned to this car as it will really diminish it's value IMHO.

The VIN tag wouldn't bother me too much, I'm sure it will still sell fairly high if the car is as good as it looks. You don't see a VIN tag when you're driving it... wink

The colour change would probably bother me more, but the red might help sell the car ("resale red") as a lot of people seem to be turned off by green these days (not me).

Here's an example of Linden Green - I'd much prefer this to red:

Thats a very 60s colour. They should paint new ones with it.

There is a 1964 GTO that comes out to our area cruise night. Its a tri-power four speed car and came factory with wire wheel covers. He runs dog dish caps when he drives it and keeps the wires for shows only. He restored the wire wheel covers and said they are too hard to keep clean. His car is I think one of six due to the colour and options.
