First new truck rolls off line in 2 years

The first new truck rolled off the line in Oshawa Wednesday. Because of the demand for full size trucks GM opened it back up. Now gas is at a record high how long will this last

This is great news for GM and the customers.

Just drove by a GM dealer and for the first time in months, they had some new trucks on the lot.

Probably all pre-sold.

GM dealers in my area are "BARE" How long can they survive with no product to sell?? I was at GM dealership in Uxbridge yesterday dropping off a friend's car with my trailer [ car won't start] & shop just "dead" mechanics all standing around with " thumb up their a$$$" so shop not carrying the dealership??? Ford & MOPAR seem to have more units???

The Chrysler dealer in the little town of Montague PEI has about 5 cars on the lot. I don't know how they are surviving either. Same with the Ford dealer. Next to nothing.
Also hearing the independent repair shops having a hard time getting parts.

This is timely news for me as I just watched Company Town last night.

The end of the documentary was at a time when there was no hope, but I see from this article that they invested $1.3B to reopen and employ 1800 people (down from 2300 previously).  Sounds like the demand for pickups moved up the schedule by a few months.  Looks like GM announced it back in May, that they were moving up the start of production.

Old news, I guess, as I wasn't keeping tabs on the situation, but... great news nonetheless!

Local Ford dealer has almost a full lot but no computer chips!! Source told me they have 1 box?? to get them off truck & onto lot & used for "test drives" + a couple "stashed away" for sales dept if customer buys vehicle & won't wait for long delivery time. Ford Cda. now storing "dead" vehicle at dealerships as no more room at plant!!GM starts up at bad time, and likely very limited production??

Makes ya wish we could go back to the pre-electronics time some days.  Things were so much simpler then.

The CDJR dealer I do business with locally told me that they were grossing ~$400/car in 2019, and are now clipping about $6,000 on each new sale.

And they are killing it on used cars, too, when they can get them.

No tag days need be held from your friendly local car dealer.  Imagine how much they're saving in floorplanning interest, as well!
