Every highway between us and the coast is closed for washouts. I was in Keremeos today, and the Similkameen river is over it's banks in many places, but the town is still ok.
Crazy weather seems to be the norm. Tornado in Vancouver area last week!

Lots of Floods in my area. 2nd time in 2 years for A farm market in Chemainus,( Russels Farm for those that know, or Red Rooster), river overflowed it's banks, over the highway.

Insurance would not renew with market so I would imagine it could be final straw. Malahat is major highway on the Island, closed due to wash out, and

waiting for water to stop before it can be surveyed as to how much damage is done before reopening. Gonna be a mess for a bit, and Now Vic is getting hit with high winds

so power outages due to saturated ground and falling tree's. Power on here Jim. Dougie picked a bad time to visit. LOL. Coquahala closed to bridge was out.

Washouts at Hope so No incoming traffic to Vancouver. And winter has just started.

Take care on the left coast island!

I would hate to be one of the hundreds of people stranded on the hwy. between two mudslides.

Our local grocery stores are running out of product, as all highways are blocked in one way or another.

Looks like Im stuck on Vancouver Island for awhile. Came out last week to help my daughter settle in her new 3 month old puppy (Bernese Mtn Dog). The puppy is doing great and I would have been heading back to the Shuswap by the weekend. Now, I have no clue when Ill be able to get home.
Pretty nice place to get storm stayed, but home is nice too!
I havent heard of any fatalities, and I hope it stays that way, but wow. The damage is shocking.

Island Highway over the Malahat, ( anything North Of Victoria) is open BUT, closed every night for the next 5 days at least.
Closed between 6pm and 6am. Has single lane traffic in the open times, alternating in 30 minute intervals. Neighbour just got to his
Property beside me and took 4 hours, which would normally take 35 minutes. Have heard there has been some bodies found in vehicles
but not sure where or how many. they are still searching for more vehicles. It's a mess out there.
Doug might be stuck at Jims house if he can make it there.

Yes unprecedented, here's a couple separate views of Whatcom Rd exit on Hwy 1 on East side of Abbotsford.....you shouldn't be able to see ANY body of water in this view, only small ditches for farming. Red line is Hwy#1 (under water ).  Red circle is Castle Fun Park, for those that know the area.
