FB Goderich; 68 2+2

68 2+2 with a Grande grille. "Ran when parked"...

I always get uncomfortable when I see these old classics sitting in tall grass... and probably soft ground.

Hard to say how long it's been sitting there, but ad says "needs bodywork".  Price $6300.  "We ship to Holland." no

BJBurnout - where are ya?

Just got back to NC from a journey up to my roots over the weekend. Western crushed St. Francis Xavier, catalyzing new cries for more regional equalization. Reminded me that I don't care much for winter.

I always thought the hideaways were the best front end ever.  Makes me wish that they had offered it as an option on non-Grandes so they would have been more common.

A 2+2 hardtop with 427, 4-speed, and hideaways would have just about been the holy grail of Canadian Pontiacs for me.

I'll be updating my 68 2+2 over the winter :

I can see why GM didn't make the hideaways available on all the 68 Pontiac lines. That's a lot of different parts and would be an expensive option. Is there one vacuum actuator, or one on each door?

Either way, you're set to go!

Looking forward to see how that comes out (I already know it will be awesome).  Just remember to look me up if you decide to sell some day... wink

Probably the main reason was to differentiate their top of the line Grande (which also tended to carry over American GP styling cues), but yeah it wouldn't have been cheap.  I always thought that the hideaways made it look more like a muscle car, and so it should have been available on their 'sport' model, not just their luxury model.

But you're right - there probably wouldn't have been many Strato Chiefs equipped with them if they had been optional.
