That's why I drive old junk that I can mostly repair myself (or take to the local guy who only charges $35/hr)

that's crazy!

I have gotten some bad vibes from Dodge dealers, but when we bought our '08 Caliber in 2013, it was already off warranty;
We bought it at a GM dealership as a "certified used" car which was supposed to have something of a limited warranty, which essentially boiled down to useless.

I have had only good experiences from GM dealers with my Cobalt ('09 model I bought in February 2010).

I also know, or have known several GM technicians, I can attest that if any of them tried to pull this, they would have been fired on the spot.
