Looks solid and low price imho. Look at the driver side floor, you cant see the ground.

Something like this would be ideal for me, if it's as solid as it looks.  I don't think I will ever repair a rustbucket, but have no problem with doing mechanical/function things to make it a nice driver/cruise night car.

Great price, but alas too far away (plus the country is going into another covid shutdown).  Hopefully it gets picked up by somebody wanting to put it back on the road.  For that price around here it would probably end up as somebody's parts car.

From the ad:

Barn find 61 Pontiac with 27500 original miles almost always stored inside since new equipped with the Pontiac 261 inline 6, 3 speed colum shift this car runs and drives. Recent work includes new coolant hoses, thermostat, carburetor rebuild, fuel pump and oil sender. It requires more work for it to be a good driver again such as Tires, all 4 brake cylinders ($20 ea from Rockauto) , brake master rebuild or replacement ($69 at Rockauto) and it will need the fuel tank to be removed and cleaned/relined. I have to many other projects to keep this one, this car is overall very solid with only minor rust in likley common spots for these cars please see pictures for details otherwise car has good stout floors and body panels.

Copy and paste the link bellow to see photos and videos https://photos.app.goo.gl/mY9r9Yty3YZePUVK7

Shipping is available across Canada and maybe USA at buyer expense. The car is Saskatchewan plated/titled. For serious enquiries only please call or text for details/photos @ 1-306-313-one887 Asking $2850 or best offer

Oh man that'd be a fun driver project. I know I say it often, but if it were here, I'd be all over it.

You only need to look at the condition of the front seat to know this is legit on the mileage/storage.

Just checked out the photos in the link he included, and yes, it appears pretty complete and plenty solid!  Some rust repair required but nothing too crazy, from the look of things.  Perhaps someone more well versed in X-frame cars (like Don) can speak to it, but it looks good to me.

That body is excellent by my east coast standards. All these years saw big rust holes in the rear wheel wells, bottom of rear quarters, inner rockers, body mounts behind the rear tires, bottom of front fenders behind the tires, floors and braces. 62 Chevies rusted over the headlights, I assume 61 Pontiacs did too. A 3 on the tree too.

Very fixable 4 door.

Carl, since you already have a 4 door G8, Im giving you permission to resto mod this 61 with the goodies from the G8. Be a nice driver with your seats, suspension, brakes, drivetrain. Unless you would drop a 427 4 speed in there. 5 speed would make it better on fuel. I know you dont have room for another car, so making 2 out of one would work? And youd be so much more stylish.

I think the plan would be to weld up whatever needs welding (looks like it needs a couple of small patches here and there), and then soak down the underside with some Rust Check or Krown.  At least that's what I'd do with it, but I wouldn't drive it in the winter either.  As Don mentioned, those cars would just get eaten up with the road salt and humidity out here.

Repair any open rust, make the suspension, brakes and driveline 100%, clean and paint the wheels, new whitewalls, correct dogdishes, detail up the interior a bit, add a new carpet, oil spray, tune up and hit the road.

Then later, find a better rear bumper.

Perfect, then just buff it. Set of chains for pei winter driving.

I wonder I could just drop this body, as is, on the G8 chassis. I'd like to keep the same handle. The G8 is very nimble for a heavy car.

Youve got a 65 2 door post, a 67 4 door HT, with a 61 4 door post, a 63 2 door HT, youd only need a 69 say convertible to have a complete 1960s odd year Pontiac collection. Ever think of that?

Funny how the mind works after 3 years of retirement and almost 2 years of Covid?

Im currently in Ottawa enjoying Winnipeg like weather too.
