January 2022 Feature Car

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We ended 2021 by featuring a Beaumont convertible so why not start 2022 with another one? Ed and Kim Fischer own this '69 Beaumont Custom convertible that appeared to be just about ready for the scrap yard when they found it. Ed went right to work when he bought the car and created the masterpiece you see here. The Beaumont now has a pampered life going to local shows while the Fischers educate fellow Americans about these wonderful cars. Here's the details from Ed:

image0.jpeg

It all started out at the Can-Am Chevelle show in Buffalo New York in 2006 when my wife got out of the car and said “What kind of car is this?“ while looking at a Beaumont. We fell in love that day and started our search for our first Beaumont. It turned out to be a 1968 Custom Beaumont that we picked up in upper Ontario in 2013. We brought it back to our home in the United States and enjoying it for a couple years until deciding that we needed to restore a Beaumont convertible or a Beaumont wagon.

With wagons being pretty much nonexistent we set our eyes on this convertible which also was in Ontario.

We started collecting parts and in 2017 began the restoration project in which we had hoped to have completed for the 2019 season for the 50th anniversary debut.I did all the work myself.

image5.jpeg

It was the first complete body work and paint job I did. Due to paint issues the project was stalled and completed in time for the 2020 season which also did not happen because of the pandemic.

image4.jpeg

The car was originally a column shift three speed automatic as seen in the VVS report. It now has a 396 and a 4 speed manual transmission.

I did keep the Beaumont's blue exterior and parchment interior.

Up until now we’ve only put a couple hundred miles on the car hoping to enjoy it this summer for the car show season.

We have taken it to one CHEVELLE regional show in the United States and many were amazed as a hobbyist that I restored 90% of this car myself including the sheet metal, body and paint work.

What we enjoy most is talking to people about the history of the Beaumont and educating people on the subject.

Wow, what a great way to start a new year. And what a beautiful job you've done on the car, VERY impressive.

As the saying goes, "needs a big block and a 4 speed"! Well done.

Ed & Kim,

Happy New Year.  Great story of the resurrection of a 1969 Beaumont Custom convertible.  It shows if you have the desire, skills and time.  Great results are possible.

Another low production model brought back to its original glory.  I can image the "schooling" that goes on in the USA.  When you are out driving your Beaumont Custom convertible.

The constant "What is that?"   "Is that a customized Malibu?"  I just hope you don't say "Its a Canadian Chevelle."  As the Beaumont is not a Canadian Chevelle.

A Canadian built Chevelle is a Canadian Chevelle.  I hope you explain that the Beaumont is the sister car to the Canadian built Chevelle.  It takes more time to explain the real story.

But its the facts and doesn't perpetuate the "Canadian Chevelle theory."  Coined by lazy car magazine story writers.

Congratulations on owning such a wonderful example of a 1969 Beaumont Custom V8 convertible.

Beautiful car, Ed, amazing work! I wish there was another CanAm show that you could take this to. Maybe I will get to the Ohio show one of these years. Congrats!

Congrats on being #1 in 22. What a masterpiece. Cheers.

I love the Strato Bench, that must have been a project onto itself.

What a beautiful car, the restoration you completed is amazing and you should be extremely proud! 68-69 Beaumonts are my passion too but regardless of my bias this is a very deserving tribute to begin 2022!

Congratulations on all your hard work, she's a beauty!!!!

As I often take my big block 1970 B-body cars to the US, I know what you're talking about re trying answer all the questions. Maybe I'll see you at the POCI show in Tulsa OK this July.

Great looking Beaumont, congratulations ! Did your car have a 12 bolt rear axle assembly as I see it had the F40 hd suspension?

That certainly is a beautiful car and I love "one of none" concept, a car that could have easily been offered by the factory but wasn't. Your take on a 4 speed big block Custom is impeccable.
