Very Rare Lemans !! This car was bought from the original owner ! Numbers Matching with very low mileage ! 1970 Pontiac Lemans “The Jury” this car is a special edition car created by Stampede GM in Alberta ! Their were only 25 of these lemans created ! These cars had a 350 V8 with a 4 speed Manual and an Automatic Transmission . This car is one of twelve 4 speeds that were created as “The Jury” the only color available was silver .This car is all original except for a performance camshaft that was added to give it that lumpy sound. No Trades

Wonder why a 400 was not included?

Thats what I originally meant.

that's pretty cool;
But with the limited appeal, I doubt that it will ever get GTO-Judge prices.

I'll admit I'd like this car, but I just don't see justifying the premium over buying a similar equipped T-37/GT-37 - especially when those could come with the 400.

 No 400. It was a cheap gimmick by a Pontiac dealer to sell a few more low line entry level cars.

Looks like Guido, the kid next door dreamed up and taped the graphics. They ruined a nice 2 door sedan. I'd be embarrassed to drive this hot mess.

I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive this.

Your reply wasn't that out of the ordinary for when the 1969 Judge first came out;
I found one guy that recalls thinking of them (especially in the initial run of Carousel Red) as "clown cars".
lol

How time has changed.

With the backdrop of how sucessful the Judge package was, you could see how this package may have spurred more sales.

If that car had the original steering wheel there, and the original shifter, I'd think it to be much cooler;
But it is still a gimmick car, like the Judge started out...
In the day of air grabber hoods, and cartoon characters getting their own car (complete with horn that sounded like the character) - this car makes absolute sense.

Plus one.  I love it because it's Canadian. Same for the Cheetah Beaumont. Cheetah emblems are awful but someone went to the effort to create something unique.

I quite like it too. A neat piece of Canadiana and a 4 speed to boot.

Should have said why wasnt a 400 included. Think one was available just not the GTO version.

According to the brochures I found online a 330hp 400 was available. If they were trying to get around insurance this was the way to go.
Looks like this was a forebearer of the taped performance cars yet to come later in the Seventies.

and that precisely is why the T-37, then the GT-37 came into being;
It was a car that could essentially be ordered like a (base in 1970) GTO, but without the GTO's sticker price...

Then for 1971, a GT-37 could be ordered with any desired GTO equipment - not just the base engine and same transmissions, but now exactly like a GTO, but without the insurance premiums.

Back to the Stampede Pontiac 'Jury' cars - These were made to attract people to the dealership - they were low price point cars that were flashy/gimmicky just like the Judge or Roadrunner.

I'd much rather a 1970 GT-37 with the 400(4bbl) & 3 or 4 speed over this car - but this is a dealer car that has some notoriety, which is why I suspect this seller is fishing for interest.

Frankly, even though it's not 'Canadiana', as fun as that car might be, I'd rather something like this car:

1970 Pontiac Tempest 'Magnum 400'

That package seemed to nail it where the 'Jury' package comes off a bit light - then again, Pontiac's hot ticket for 1970 was the D-port 400/4bbl backed with a manual transmission, as those engines got he RAIII heads (read: more compression).
Also the selling dealer made them to be hot cars, not flashy low price point cars.

Maybe the jury car came about because he had them sitting on the lot for a while.

I had understood that they were ordered that way with the intent of making them as "Jury" cars specific to that dealership (Stampede Pontiac; in downtown Calgary).
All in silver, all with base interior equipment, all on pillared(?) coupes (the lowest price version of the car).
I cannot recall if the spoilers were dealer or factory installed, but a local knows all about these cars - he even wrote an article for HPP many years ago about the cars.

I bet they were ordered on a fleet deal. 2 door sedan, bench seat etc.

/\ I could be mistaken, but I thought they all had the same rear gearing too - I don't know if the gearing made them exempt from a fleet order.
